There is film of Marciano and better Newspaper coverage than of the Game Chicken, history will be harsher with Marciano.

It is often said quite rightly history is written by the victor, now due in a large part to this medium that is not the case.

People are seeing grey where it was thought things where black and white, Marciano's career will not hold up to five hundred years of spin and scrutiny if the current trend continues IMO.

Theres plenty of reports on the Chicken Game. There are round by round news papers on his fights, Sure there is the lack of film. But if we go on film alone, we dont see no one with there hand rise.

Just because the Rock got paid for room and board does not mean it was a pro fight.

I had it 8-7 Holmes, although, I can see how people scored it for Spinks. In the rematch, I had it 9-6 for Holmes though.

Not in my mind. With that fight, I think that was more on how you score a fight. I score fights on different things, it depends. Spinks landed a lot of pitter patter, and he hit Larry about 50-60 more times, but Larry definately was landing the more telling blows. Like I remeber at one point, Spinks put one arm on Larry's shoulder, and was hit Larry with about 4 awkward uppercuts with one arm in a row. Larry wasn't the slightest bit fazed, and he hit Spinks with 1 shot right after wards, and Spinks was realing. I usually don't score for people who do little, weak, combo's and run. Which is why I scored the Hagler-Leonard fight for Hagler. By the way, for people who don't know, both Spinks-Larry fights on youtube, the whole thing. Along with Larry's fight with Berbick and Witherspoon, and part of the rematch Larry had with Weaver. Great 1 punch KO.

Scoring on Ring Mallardship and Effective Larryness aren't really criterion.

I'm a massive Holmes fan, and no way did he beat Spinks in the first fight. I also dont agree that Holmes landed the "better" punches. Spinks did pepper Holmes with the jab, but he also landed some clean power punches himself.

Holmes plodded forward for the entire fight behind the jab, and seldom threw the right hand. Not enough variety in Holmes' work to impress the judges.

I think Spinks took the title clearly in the 1st fight, there was no doubt in my mind and mostly everyone agreed,Newspapers etc. I have to watch the 2nd fight again because I hear it was controversial, I remember it being closer but Holmes did not do enough to take Spinks title. The 1st fight Spinks won kind of convincing

Spinks best money shots did nothing to Larry. Larry landed some of his decent, but not money shots, and Spinks went reelling. Even Larry's jab seemed to hurt Michael at times. I give dead even rounds to the champion, because he had to over come the same thing. All of that stuff stopped with the Spinks-Holmes fights I guess.

Wait, almost dropping Spinks on 3 or 4 occasions, hurting him on numerous, rocking him on even more, and pounding/beating Spinks up doesn't take a title, but small, little flurries do?

I believe spinks landed more total punches in the 2nd fight, it was a close decision not a flat out robbery.

I beleive the 14th was the closest, but I'm pretty sure in the 2nd, and 7th he came pretty close too. He rocked and hurt Spinks numerous times though.
