Absolutely no bearing on boxing whatsoever.

There are small fighters with relatively slow hands, who hit like a ton of bricks, and there are big fighters with fast hands, who can't break an egg.

I am not sure why this is the case, but it ultimately is.

Thats just ludicrous. You are talking as though Holmes was a weak Tyrell Biggs type of Heavyweight. He might not have had the power to impose range on an Oliver McCall, but Marciano, don't make me laugh.

Holmes would totally dominate the range with just his jab, a jab that Marciano wouldn't believe a man could possess. Fast hard, relentless and accurate.

To be brutally honest with you, I don't think he hit any harder than the guys Marciano was actually fighting.

If I am right, then Marciano would just get inside like he always did, and it would go badly for Holmes from there.

Holmes himself said it best ,"I'm and old champion fighting young guys Rocky was a younger champ ,fighting old guys".

Yes, but who were the best three young guys, that Holmes beat?

They are not better simply by virtue of being younger.

I couldn't care less what Ring magazine thinks or says.

Larry Holmes knocked out 44 men ALL of which were over 200 lbs, and Holmes is NOT reckoned to be a devastating puncher. Yet you think he couldn't handle a slow footed, slow handed, short armed midget ( in comparison ) weighing 13 and a half stone.

    It's delusional.

It reminds me of all the fools who didn't think Mayweather would use his reach and ring smarts to nullify everything the pocket Marciano from the Phillipines thought he could do.

But its usually the case that a taller, faster handed, and faster footed boxer with a minimum of 11 inches in reach, with decent pop, and a great chin to boot, beats a slow footed ,slower handed nearly 5inches smaller and 35lbs lighter mauler who often cut in his big fights.

Unfortunately it does have a complete bearing on boxing. Because the important part is the percentage of the slow handed guys that hit like cannons, and the percentage of guys with blinding hand speed that can't crack eggs. I'd think you could safely say that majority of fast handed fighters do have pop, and the majority of slow handed fighters don't.
