No. He isn't. This is a fallacy created to boost Marciano's roster. People then lapped it up. Walcott's footwork is good, but it's arguably not even top 5 at HW. Holmes is levels better. Ali's footwork is so far above Walcott's, it's embarrassing.

You know my favourite fighter fought Walcott 4 times? I've seen plenty of Walcott. In the Marciano fight he was hit plenty.

Holmes has much better footwork, is much tougher and has the better skill in keeping Marciano off him.

Walcott was very talented and had some beautiful moves. He was so robust for his weight as well.

At his best Holmes had a Bowe-level right uppercut. That would be the perfect foil for Marciano, though again I'm not sure he'd get knocked down there's no question in my mind he'd slow down. That and the jab would have Rocky's forward movement compromised again and again during the fight. Rocky would have to say a hail mary and pray for a Suzy Q.

Strongly disagree with this. Walcott’s foot work is put down BECAUSE he was a Marciano opponent. Anyone watching can see he has impeccable footwork. Unique (which can be a good thing). Always balanced and always throwing off the opponent. Maybe the same argument can be made that he uses to much energy but I would remind u people said the same of Holmes and Ali’s footwork.

Correct. Joe Walcott was very quick on his feet and had excellent footwork which in truth improved later in his career. He had a particular method which I believe was termed as “ The barber shop shuffle “ which made him very hard to chase down as it involves constant movement with sudden pivots in different directions.

Roy Jones Jr in his prime would whoop Rocky Marciano. Outspeed and out technique him.

I wonder about Prime Muhammad Ali, 1964-1967, losing to Prime Rocky Marciano, 1952-1956 in that computer fight in 1970, by KO 13. It makes me wonder if the outcome might be the same for Larry Holmes, who hit the canvas in his title defense against Earnie Shavers in 1979. Where Ali never hit the deck in his prime title defenses, and took Shavers best through 15 rounds on Sept 29 1977, in Madison Square Garden, won by Ali by unanimous decision. Earnie was in danger of hitting the canvas in round 15. This fight with Holmes vs Marciano is a question mark for me. A lot of similarities in this fight, Larry had a similar style that Ali had back then.

I said Ror Jones's prime, up until the John Ruiz fight. He seriously looked like a top 10 p4p ATG in those years...
Perhaps i should not have been so definitive when saying he would whoop Marciano, cause Rocky sure as hell got a punch to him and Roy has a glass chin... Roy does have better technique and speed though.
