In all honesty, I think Peter would be just as problematic for Lewis in that situation. Mercer was overweight and inactive for like a year, far from his best, still nearly stole it. Really just a style problem for Lennox, who was also still struggling to rebuild his confidence against trialhorses after McCall. The unexpectedly tough out of shape Mercer being on of those trialhorses. I think Peter's second win over Toney is criminally underrated. Sure, Toney is a tubby, but he beat Ruiz, Guinn, spoiled Rahman, and busted up Peter at the same weight. To come back and nearly shut out a top 5 slickster that arguably beat you in the previous match was pretty impressive in my book. "I was like Ali."-Samuel Peter....eh, he did alright. This content is protected I think the chin thing is splitting hairs, very marginial difference. Both fighters were very successful at walking through punishment against heavy punchers to apply pressure.
Oh Holmes no doubt about it. Peter would have no chance at outpointing Larry and he is to damn sloppy and wild to score a ko on a Master boxer like Holmes. A prime in shape Peter would have his moments with the past it Holmes but for the most part gets schooled. Holmes comfortable decision 117-111
Peter is a little bit underrated. Or at least ridiculed a bit too much. I mean, it's his own fault because he came in well out of shape and disinterested too many times. But when he's 240 pounds or less he looks pretty good, and he showed some decent boxing ability in a few of his fights that he's not given credit for. Holmes would beat him, and clearly. But I wouldn't write Peter off in the current scene as readily as some people do.
Muhammad Ali is 68 and has Parkinson disease and Peter beats him to. atsch I'm talking about Holmes from Mercer fight
