    great post. Liston is a top 15 ATG on account of his 1960 wins but that is it. Holmes is top 5. makes him like 3 times the man in my book, another level.

    Patterson was no better against sonny than liston himself was against ali in the rematch! people say "did ali fight the real liston?" They never say "did liston EVER fight the real patterson!"

    The three worst efforts on record in HW title fights was the one rounders involving patterson against liston and liston against ali. the winners beat nothing in those fights -yet 70% of Listons legend was made from two of them.

    Liston is still riding on a lot of revised 1980s tyson chic.
