Larry Holmes vs. Tyson Fury

I think Larry would win also, although it would be interesting to see how small Larry would look compared to Tyson Fury. The size differnece might be a big factor, but I think Larry throws enough jabs and rights to win a close decision..

 

Yeah the dynamics of the matchup would be rather interesting. Fury could try his hand on the outside looking to take advantage of his reach and size and if that didn't work he could try mauling him, leaning on him etc.

 

More or less this. Assuming that you could get Fury into a ring with Holmes, the actual fight would probably be quite close. Fury's outrageous dimensions and ability to both box defensively and go to war make this a tough out for Larry. I don't think Holmes' power would bother Fury much but Fury probably hits at least as hard as Snipes, for instance.

We also haven't seen Fury get repeatedly knocked unconscious in the opening rounds of a fight.

 

We haven't SEEN Fury at all. Rumor has it he'll fight Chuck Lydell next.

 

If Fury were allowed to hug and lean and maul he'd be tough to stop for anyone other that a Tyson or a Lewis or maybe a Bowe or a Louis ... need that explosive power ...

 

He wouldn't be easy for any of those guys and Bowe and Louis probanly take Ls.

I agree. Heavyweights and size make these heavyweight matchups so unpredicatable compared to lower weights. Tyson Fury is an amazing fight and almost and unpredicatable fighter. It is almost like when we think he doesn't have ability he pulls out something which shows us a natural fighting skill and heart. His size makes him hard to figure. As for size and ability and the different, I always wondered how Floyd Patterson would have done against Liston had he weighed the same. Very different fight I am sure. A fascinating fight to me was always to think about Liston against Marciano. It is almost a different weight and division and yet a few years apart.
