IMO, Holmes jabs Wlad all night long, Until a right puts Klit out.

Vitali lasts longer but by RD 13 his entire left side is expossed all the way down to the metal exo-skeleton.

I can see Holmes getting a decision against Vitali but against Wladimir, Larry loses the battle of the jabs. I know, Larry had a legendary jab and all but Wlad's is much more powerful.

    wlad by decision

Vitali by TKO after Holmes corner notices that he has shattered both hands on Vitali's Granite structure and can no longer continue

Wlad's jab, right hand & left hook are more powerful than any punch in Larry's arsenal. Larry was also a sucker for a powerful, straight thrown right hand.

For the record Lennox Lewis beats Larry too.

Someone starts one of these "(insert champion from past era) vs the Klitschkos" threads every day, it seems.

Then if anyone has the temerity to say a Klitschko would win, they get bashed by all the nostalgia heads.

    Gets kind of repetitive.

Holmes would probably fight Wlad like he did Cooney pot shot him and keep moving so he can't get planted and throw power shots and wait until the later rounds and go for a stoppage

In my humble opinion, Wlad would do quite well in matchups against many of the fighters of old. That said, I think Holmes would easily outbox Wlad and perhaps even stop him in the later rounds. For all of their strengths, both Klitschkos are pretty basic fighters. And I believe that any great, dynamic heavyweight would give them fits.

I'd say by round three Holmes would have Wlad pretty well figured out. He'd start to land on Wlad with crisp combinations and use his movement to tire the big man out. Larry was not a huge puncher, but he was big enough to get Wlad into trouble at any moment.

Wlad, of course, is a huge puncher, but Larry had almost preternatural recuperative powers, as we saw against Shavers. So, even if Wlad could put him down, I don't think he'd keep him there.

I see the fight ending in the 10 or 11. There'd also be a chance that Wlad could use his superior strength to hold on, literally, for a decision loss.

I disagree. Wlad had never faced a fighter even remotely like Holmes. He's never been in there with a guy that can move and punch. He's been in with guys that can move (Byrd) and guys that can punch (Peter, Brewster, Sanders), but never one that could do both.

Larry had above average power and excellent hand speed. I think they'd split rounds 1-4, then Larry would begin to pub combinations together and make Wlad look very robotic. I think Holmes would win a wide UD over Wlad. I see the exact same thing happening against Vitali, however the older Klit is so damn strong he might win a few more rounds. Holmes in a closer UD over Vitali.

lol I had a funny thought, just use your imagination and replace Trevor Berbick with Wladimir Klitschko, even add the accent into this funny thought:
