Larry Holmes, who had a relatively small head by heavyweight championship standards, experiences head growth that leaves him between 6'4" and 6'5". His other body measurements are essentially unchanged.

How does this newly superheavyweight 6'4"-6'5" Larry Holmes perform against fellow superheavyweight Lennox Lewis?

Does he spend months in the Himalayas learning the ancient art of headbutting from Grandmaster Holyfield before the fight?

    @Barrf

I think what your referring to is Holyfield following the teachings of the Rule of Two. I would imagine just before the fight, Steward would warn Lewis "Always two there are, no more, no less. A master and an apprentice".

Well, of course we all know that a young Larry Holmes found the proverbial female genie in a bottle and his first wish was for “A little head”.

Save your tomatoes, I’ve already left the building.

Holistically, a larger head throws out the whole system.

The added cranial weight would see Holmes fatigue more quickly.

The larger noggin also presents as a bigger and easier target to hit.

Does Larry get a bigger brain from this deal? - it hasn’t been specified so I can’t comment on the possible ramifications of same.

Larry also has sleep issues, no long able to rest his head on a pillow normally lest he break his neck.

Now he sleeps sitting, legs drawn up, resting his head on his knees for the extra support required.

Ali switches up his derogatory labelling from Peanut Head to Melon Head or The Easton Encephalitis Boy.

The sudden head growth gives rise to widespread accusations of PED usage. Manny PAC messages Larry via twitter stating “Welcome to my world…”

Lennox expresses fears that his first, sniping right hand might see Larry’s head explode, spraying grey matter all over Larry and himself - with Larry still trying to fight on with a half a head, spouting blood - though that half head will still be bigger than Larry’s previous whole head.

I’m trying hard to find the positives for Larry here but it’s not easy.

That thread made me laugh, thanks for that.
I think if Larry fought today, it's very likely that his head would be bigger - actually. Apparently, it's common side effect of HGH and some say many athlethes and boxers are on it. Thus, if We make that match-up by moving Holmes up a generation - then assuming his head getting a little larger is not far-fetched proposition.
I think it would create bigger target for Lewis's right hand, thus I'll go with him.

I think a bigger head wouldn't be good for The Peanut, the aerodynamics would be affected if he had a head like, say Bruce Campbell from the Evil Dead (or Burt Campbell from Soap). A much bigger target for Lennox to hit and carrying that extra weighty noggin would slow Holmes considerably. If anything Larry may prefer that peanut head of his to be even smaller- like the shrunken head guy in the waiting room from Beetlejuice.

I think Holmes would definitely go for the smaller "peanut head" for aerodynamics & target reduction but would prefer the larger head for training/strategical edge.....

Is Holmes able to jettison and reinstall the preferred head for the job in view, or is this one of those "one type of replacement head or the other" questions?

 Chester Tate’s head rates a mention also. So too does the ginormous head of Larry Tate. Is the surname Tate somehow synonymous with those endowed with a melon head?

I don't know how I missed it before - but it seems to me that this hypothetical has been specifically framed to improve Holmes H2H ranking.

    :D

I actually never saw an episode of Soap, I remember some of the faces (the one with the red hair, the one with the massive head, etc). It was broadcast over here probably around the mid-80s, late at night and its theme tune was a trigger for my mum to tell me it was time for bed, as was Tales of the Unexpected (UK mystery show which ripped off Alfred Hitchcock Presents). As soon as she heard those theme tunes.....

But yeah, CT's out to bump Larry's historical ranking of late, well deserved I reckon and he's had a tough time on Classic in the past (i.e. The Mallard Years)

As kids we got flex on those shows with implied xxx and/or horror themes but anything with straight up sex scenes etc. - yeah, it was off to bed but that didn’t stop us sneaking out and hanging out the door way to see what we weren’t supposed to see….anyway, Soap was hilarious and Richard Mulligan was a terrific comedian…

A good guess, but no. I had another thing in mind here, and Larry happened to have the right height and head for the job.
