I just watched Tyson vs Holmes again I always love watching this fight for Larry's performance. He never gave up, until he had no choice. He successfully survived 4 rounds against a stalking Tyson. Even when he's getting pummeled for like one straight minute at the end, he still had the brains to try to land in some sneak haymakers to change the entire fight. Tyson never got hit though, because he kept punching. Holmes at 38 could get away from Tyson using the Ali dancing, but did not have the energy to keep it up for the long. It was a great insight to how a prime Holmes, and Ali would have fought Tyson. He was also able to land his jab when doing that. A great Legend vs. Legend fight for the history books It's classic how Ali has such a great reception before the fight, and goes to Tyson, to tell him to "get him for me". The legendary champion after Ali was Holmes, and after Holmes was Tyson. Ali told Tyson to do to Holmes, what Holmes had done to him. Classic
This site does rank Holmes #3, which I do think is too high, but its not something I would argue against with much passion.
I agree with a lot of the criticisms of Holmes but I do feel like I've just stumbled into a cult meeting of The Church Of LennoxLewisology with some of the posts in this thread ! .... and a week or two from now, someone will be telling me LL is "underrated" but "the tide is starting to turn, he's starting to get some recognition" ...
