I think Lewis. Lewis is bigger, stronger, and harder hitter. Boxing IQ is good too. I think Lewis got holmes out gunned. Holmes may have a better chin.... and jab....
If Bruno could outjab Lewis for a bit then I'm sure Holmes could. Lewis also has the power to deck Holmes but he won't knock him out. Holmes wins the early rounds and the mid part of the fight becomes close with Lewis finally taking some rounds. The rest of the fight is a toss up IMO. Anyone could pull it off but I favor Holmes especially if we're talking primes.
Lennox Lewis fans are pathetic, pairing him in fantasy fights with great fighters to make him look like an elite fighter. This thread is an insult to the Easton Assassin. If Lennox had wanted to fight some real opposition, he would have fought Tyson in 1990, or Chris Byrd, Corrie Sanders, Lamon Brewster, or David Tua before he became a fat hog.
come on man brewster tua sanders and byrd never had a chance and tyson in 90 would have lost to lewis
Prime Holmes was a more formidable and complete fighter than Lewis, imho. But Lewis had reach and size advantage. I'd still have to pick late-70s/early-80s Holmes over Lewis.
Lennox has to much physicality. There's never been a man over 6'4 and 240lbs who fought so well and was as well rounded. Larry was easy to hit really clean, he got tagged big and struggled somewhat in all his big fights. Larry was a bit like Juan Manuel Marquez in the sense that even though he was a great fighter he was for some reason easy to hit. Lennox matches him for everything, you have to surprise Lewis with something otherwise it was a long night. Lennox was also even more of a beast with men of similar height and build, he was less cautous and really took it to them. I think Lennox would land the bigger more effective punches, possibly hurt Larry at some point and win a decision.
HOLMES was a much better boxer than LL ..LL used his reach well but his boxing sucked compared to the likes of Holmes .. Yeah he took care of buisness but they were far from blow outs against sub par fighters ..People need to see past the jabs of both men ..Lewis may have had the edge in power but so did allot of fighters Holmes fought.
Lewis > Klitschko's, get over it-he just was. Lewis' opposition by far > the Klitschko's opposition. Byrd = Crap, Sanders = crapper than Byrd, Brewster = crapper than either of them, Tua = happened. When was he slim?. Again, Lewis was better than the Klitschko's, end of story. You don't know or care about boxing, you like two fighters and that's it. Love them in private, nobody wants to know about your onanist fantasies-it's not that kind of forum. Lewis was better than the Klitschko's. (So was Holmes).
Get this and get it straight, Larry Holmes had THE best jab in history of boxing. He could shoot it with blistering speed and it was heavy (ask Ossie Ocasio) He could shoot it upstairs and downstairs. He had superior ring generalship, and uncanny boxing savvy. Lewis could fight, he was the genuine article. Realistically, a prime Holmes is damn near the top of the charts of all time great heavyweight champs. There is no way Lewis could outpoint Holmes. And I can`t see him stopping him either, only Tyson was able to pull it off and that was against a comebacking, out of shape rusty Holmes. Prime Larry had great lateral movement, he`d use that, his sharp jab and good right hand (uppercut) as well to outpoint Lewis. If it went 15, he may even stop him late. He boxing skills were superior to Lewis, and if the going got tough. Larry had the seeds to get nasty as well. Larry Holmes one of THE most underated heavies of them all...
