I don't think anyone likes getting punched in the face too much. When you're constantly missing yet getting punched for it, it would make most guys stop and think and less apt to throw, which is the case with most of floyd's b and c rated opponents. Pac doesn't mind getting hit though, he's just one of those warriors. I highly doubt Floyd will turn a machine like Pac into another deer in headlights like Canelo was for instance. Plus Pac will land more on Floyd than anyone ever has, you have a fast, crazy volume puncher (southpaw) vs a guy who's slowing down recently and getting hit more = potential disaster for floyd.
Oscar also got hit more than usual vs Stevie forbes prior to the fight with pac, and pac re-arranged oscar's face.

Merchant is like what 90 yrs old now. I wouldn't expect him to remember what he ate for breakfast this morning much less any fights of the past.

At the end of the day Floyd fights how he does and became the highest paid athlete in the world. He must be doing something right. Don't hate,......congratulate.

Not if the punches are coming from a pillow fisted fighter. Which is something you people are happy to point out about Floyd at any and every opportunity.

Ndou, Chavez, Corley, Cotto, Augustus were all entertaining fights IMO.

I kind of remember Hopkins vs Trinidad, Hopkins vs De La Hoya, and Mayweather vs Casillo I being somewhat interesting, but that could be just as much their opponent's doing. What makes Bernard and Mayweather boring is primarily their lower punch outputs. I think they are consistently about ten punches lower than average per round. Pacquiao is generally about 12 punches above the division average in all of his fights, so he's considered more exciting. It's not the skill level which Mayweather, Rigondeaux, Lara, or Hopkins definitely have.

It's the output, as well as the knockout ratio. Pac hasn't had a knockout in years so he's slipped a tad in the excitement class from the time when he was a destroyer like Golovkin, Kovalev, Matthysse, or Gonzalez but he did have a stupendous fight with Marquez IV that led to his getting knocked out which counts as an exciting fight. Same goes for Donaire too. He was wrecking people right and left while he climbed the weight classes. Then he got wrecked by Walters. We can probably expect the same thing from Naoya Inoue. Roman Gonzalez will likely stay at Flyweight retaining his knockout power and continue to be an exciting knockout puncher for years to come. Be nice to see him up against Segura who's had his share of interesting fights.

As for the OP, and I can't believe I'm writing this, I agree with Larry Merchant the old drunken idiot. Pacquioa has been in more exciting fights than Arturo Gatti and Mayweather hasn't had one fight that's as good as Pac's top 8. Pernell Whitaker could be a bit of a bore too compared to JCC, Duran, or Tyson.
