I like larry he calls it as he sees it, hes not some Network puppet. he says **** i dont agree with sometimes called Martinez a runner in the Pavlik fight and the next 2 rounds lit Pav's face up but thats his opinion and its a breath of fresh air to have him commentating.
Larry can be very biased. His anti Don King campaign after Tyson and Co sacked HBO because of him, got a bit over the top. Listening to him painfully call a Ruiz Holyfield fight was terrible. He had nothing good to say ever.
It's subjective, Some people love him for his straight forward approach to things and some hate it for going overboard sometimes. I'm cool with it, Boxing needs him Imo.
Yeah I really have a hard time listening to bug eyed Max Kellerman. He really doesnt know **** about boxing, but he tries to breakdown fights and is incorrect on most accounts. Larry just has a strong opinion but hes an excellent commentator in my opinion.
Only children use the word "hater".... Children and morons. It actually stuns me that adults will use that word.
I like Larry, he asks straight questions even though something that would feel uncomfortable if it's you being interviewed, specially someone popular with fans.
Larry Merchant can hate, but I rather have him than some stupid AZZ sounding fanboys like Lampley and Kellerman.
If there were no critics or "haters" as you call them the world would be full of yes man and groupies like yourself. Merchant can back up his "hate" with substantiated arguments and would likely embarass you when it comes to the knowledge of boxing. Merchant is not perfect, but he's the closest thing we have to a knowledgeable commentator who straight up speaks his mind. Long live Larry and **** HBO for cutting his time.
