Yes. Race is real. It is written all over Larry Merchant's passive aggressive antics. You are part of that ignorant group that believes not talking about things makes them "not exist"?

You disliking Dirrell should have NOTHING to do with you calling an illegal shot illegal and not BLAMING the VICTIM for the illegal action. So now we must examine why in certain circumstances you are willing to abandon your moral compass to vilify specific people/groups. Why?

I don't care. Your grandparents loved Louis Armstrong too. I just remember explicitly your defending the illegal actions of Abraham while talking down on Dirrell. I also notice how you conveniently pay no mind to the REPEATED head butt attempts of Ortiz. You and Merchant are birds of a feather.

I respect your views on many topics though so I think you are a decent guy. We are who we are. Life is about realizing this and growing.

Merchant is the man. At 80 years old he still has more balls that Floyd. Merchant is nowhere near Floyd physically or financially, but he sure has heart.

He is definately condesending though, it depends on your sensitivity I suppose if it constitutes bullying. Just because boxers are tough men in the ring doesn't mean they can't be affected by how they are treated by people, especially 'authority' figures (The Man). Personally I find Merchant insulting much of the time.
I thought how he talked to Kastidis after the Marquez fight was utterly shameful.

The Dirrell incident is different. I called it like it is. I said that Abaraham was wrong to do it, but it happens...and it does. It's just one of those things. Could it have been allowed? Yeah, it could have been. There are many cases in history where it's been ignored and many where it's resulted in a DQ, so there's no one rule about that.

As for whether Dirrell faked it, I think I did say that at the time but I probably shouldn't have. There's no reason to think he did, though I stand by my views that he exaggerated his injury to avoid fighting Ward.

I agree that race is real and it's still an issue but I just don't think it's warranted to call Merchant a racist. He's a dick sometimes and if he was like that with my favourite fighters, I'd probably have an issue with him but the guys I do like, he's respectful to. I don't think he's racist for one moment, just an opinionated commentator who has his views on the sport.

Larry has the "heart" to talk **** and talk down people with his camera crew and HBO for protection or through the newpapers, but in reality his is just a jealous, bitter piece of ****.

I know what you're getting at, but I'm not american so I only see him commentating occasionally. Perhaps what you say is true but I can't say myself.

You say it is racial but the worst example for me was when he forced Kastidis - who had just lost a tightly fought fight - to talk about his brother who had only died a few weeks before - straight after driving him to tears he said "Right back to the studio" and cut him off. What a hero :-(

All I can say is he seems an ******* to me - an intelligent one who loves boxing sure - but loves the sound of his own voice even more - and likes taking people down.
Perhaps they deserve it perhaps they don't it's all subjective.

I'm not american so I don't know the ins and outs of the situation.

Wtf has Dirrell-Abraham got to do with Floyds infantile outburst? Defend Larry? What is there to defend, he didn't do ****.

Why do people find it so hard to accept, Mayweather is a dickhead.

Definitely, that was way out of line. But I think its more down to him being a bit senile than a ****. Either way he needs replacing, he's too old for this ****
