I don't know what has happened to you man. It seems that when Mayweather's second sucker hit Ortiz's skull, it also reverberated round your own head, and when you woke up you were MichiganWarrior's long-lost cousin. Never before have I seen a neutral indulge in such a prolonged stretch of Mayweather ass-kissing as I've observed in you over the past few days. First it was falsifying and wilfully misinterpreting crystal-clear video evidence, now it is simply lying and misrepresenting Merchant's conduct. Larry "went very aggressively"??? Bull****. Bull**** of the highest order. Only sheer blind bias could lead someone to say such a thing. You need to have a close look at yourself just now I think. Your mind is warping reality. :-(
Merchant said absolutely nothing to Mayweather to warrant that kind of response. Something else made Mayweather do that. Maybe he was reacting to the boos, maybe he wasn't prepared to answer questions about Pacquiao or maybe he just wasn't to sell his act a little bit more. Whatever the reason, it wasn't warranted and to say otherwise is bull****.
Mayweather was justified in attacking Merchant. Merchant has had it in for Mayweather for years and always makes snide remarks. I'm surprised Mayweather has been restrained for so long. Compare Merchant's conduct to someone like Al Bernstein who always acts like a pro, only concentrates on the action, and treats all the boxers with respect in the knowledge that he is just there as a journalist.
In Mayweather land, asking legitimate questions & stating the obvious is "hating." Larry calls it as he sees it. If the fight is garbage, he says it, regardless of who is fighting. It just so happens that a lot of Mayweather fights are garbage, or at least don't live upto the hype that Floyd tells us in the build up. Larry calls him out on it, simple as that.
There are literally dozens of examples of Merchant taking needless digs at Mayweather. He does it virtually every other sentence. It took me 1 minute to find one: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U21fUrH1Tqo&feature=related[/ame] Go to 4:39 "Floyd Mayweather didn't want to fight in Los Angeles or New York, and from what I've seen Los Angeles and New York have been done a favor"
Black fighters are judged to a different standard. Simple as. Roy jones, hopkins, floyd, Whitaker ect. Disparaged during their careers only appreciated after. U can see why a guy like Floyd would be resentful. Merchant is just part of the system. Truthfully whites like to tear down their heroes. Blacks want to elevate theirs. It's a cultural thing. It's not cool to hate on a successful person in black culture
Out of the 42 or so mayweather fights I'd say only 2 didn't live to the buildup. Oscar and baldomir. Floyd evenade Demarcus Corley exciting
PBF was 150% correct when he said that Merchant wasn't ****, and knew **** about boxing. Some Turkish uncle set this drunken bum up in the biz 40 years ago. Funny that Hopkins and Toney have told Merchant that he doesn't know **** about boxing also.
This is exactly what the argument comes down to. Boxing is entertainment at the end of the day and Larry is a fan of boxing. The only people that are complaining about Larry are "fans of athletes" or "floyd fans". I don't necessarily believe that all "fans of athletes" hate on Larry. I certainly am not. Larry asks tough questions and will call a fighter out for being boring and I love that. Nobody else has the guts to do it. Larry represents the true boxing fan that wants to see a good fight.
