Good.....now we need HBO's higher-ups to show the same kind of enthusiasm for Mayweather-Cotto and put up a shitload of money so we can see the fight.

Yeah but Merchant is a bit of a hater. I'm a big Floyd Mayweather fan and a big Miguel Cotto fan and I'd LOVE to see this fight!! Floyd has disappointed me with wanting to fight Delahoya again. I can't blame the man cause obviously its BIG money for him but it's not good for the fans. But I can't fault him either because if i was in his shoes I'd probably do the same. Will the fans be there for him if he's broke and punch drunk? If he doesn't fight Cotto after Cotto whips Margarito then I'll officially be done with being a fan of his. Until then I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Larry was on his A game tonight.

Very little slurring & no long winded metaphors.

Maybe he cut down on the Gin & Tonics?

    Merchant KO3 Maxie.

This fight will make money. Cotto-Mayweather will make money. PBF can't use the excuse of the fight not making money. Cotto has a large fan base and there are a lot of people waiting for Floyd to suffer that first L..This fight would be huge..I just wish that it could happen already..this would be one for the fans, IMO

I'm not sure Larry popping off is the constructive way to get the point across, but the old man always speaks his mind. I respect Floyd's level of talent, but the simple fact is that he's fighting retirees and junior welters while Cotto is doing what ATGs have done historically: take on all comers, and clean out the division in the process.

If Cotto ends the year having beaten Mayorga and Margarito at 147, his resume in this division will be so much better than Floyd's it's not even funny. It's about time somebody in the mainstream, TV media other than Brian Kenny started pointing this out.

Baldomir has the toughest chin at 147. Cotto on the other hand can be hurt.

Cotto was suppose to fight Clottey, but chose any easier opponent in Gomez. However, he has fought more top WW than Mayweather. Can't argue with that.

. . . no amount of calling out will ever force PBF to fight the opponent he doesn't want to fight . . . and I say "**** him" and his titles. :D

He can bring his P4P **** six feet under the ground with him. :good :yep

:rofl Larry is such a hater, but if it makes Floyd accept the fight then it's all good :good
I wonder if Floyd watched it, can't wait to see what his response will be.

I'd like to think Cotto beats PBF but as impressive as Cotto is, I think PBF is simply too much for him.

Thats Larry Merchants job ... he's supposed to create hype before the fight is actually settled.

Its the same with Floyd being on national TV and having the question of him fighting Cotto brought up. (He couldve easily said don't ask me any questions about Cotto)

Its all pre fight hype ... it adds more drama and gets people more interested in the bout before it happens ... its called anticipation.

Larry Merchant and HBO know what to do ... its the same thing they did with Tito before he fought Hopkins ... and we all know what happened there.:hi:
