they think just because he's an old white guy that he must not know what he's doing they watch that clip of floyd and roy saying you just a commentator and they take it like it's gospel
:rofl:roflatsch Ole Vodka Breath STRIKES again ! It's really too bad none of the boxers have called him out on it in the ring interview. I can hear BHop sayin "Goddamn Larry, you been boozin' on the clock?!"
Merchant knows Glass Jaws exist in Boxing. I have seen him expose many Glass Jawed frauds. Who remembers the Andrew "Six Heads" Lewis comment and his comments about Michael Grant's Glass Jaw being an insult to Glass. :roflatsch Yet we have people on here that make up ridiculous excuses when fighters get KOed it is never the Chin to them. :roflatsch
Yeah, we hear it time and time again - the utterly unprovable myth that "that punch woulda KOd anyone." Nope Sherlock, it KOd THAT guy, period. And chances are, if was particularly brutal, that guy has a glass jaw.:yep
Aint never been a truer word spoken. Some of these deniers make me sick to my stomach.:barf:barf:barf
Surprised a guy from NYC would say this, R. Larry, at less than 160 pounds, was the meanest, roughest toughest defensive player in NYC high school football.
John, sadly we have many people on here that just don't know Boxing. Too many young kids that watch HBO and don't like it because Merchant is/was harsh on their favorite fighter. Larry Merchant tells it like it is. He doesn't play favorites like other broadcasters do. HBO won't be the same when he is gone.
Larry is the man! Also said Kelly Pavlik was the hardest hitting Middleweight he has EVER SEEN! now thats saying something!
Merchant is an old school kind of commentator. He's very brash, brazen and blunt. He's been this way since i can remember and you need people like this because commentators seem to try and make it all about them instead of the sport or issue at hand
Someone needs to make a YouTube video of all of Larry's greatest quotes and antics. It would be Legendary.
