Of course you completely ignore what I wrote. Larry Merchant can ask whatever he wants, but when he gets taken to task by real fighters then his fans should accept that aswell. Merchant probably would never hate on Pac like he does guys like Roy, Hop and Floyd. But he will give him excuses like the bull**** he pulled about the gloves when Pac got his ass whipped by Morales.
There was nothing wrong with the actual questions that Merchant put to BHop, but the aggressive delivery and disrespectful tone were disgraceful. Overall I like Merchant, but he was a ****head in this instance.
Most definitely. Notice the fighters he tends to attack. He's one of the most biased commentators I've ever seen. He makes up his mind, then watches a fight and makes his comments based on the decisions he made going into the fight.
Bernard has been a 'bid'ness man for a while now. He'll do whatever it takes to sell the perception that he is great, with the least possible risk. I'm happy that an average fighter like Jermain Taylor exposed him with two wins :good
I can't defend Merchant for the post-fight interview with Manny Pacquiao after his loss to Erik Morales. I thought it was disgraceful, particularly on Manny's part, to avoid giving Erik any credit whatsoever. Unfortunately, that seems to have carried over to his fans on this website, as they have a whole list of excuses whenever the fight is mentioned. That being said, I don't see anything wrong with this particular interview or the majority of his other interviews. He's perceived to be attacking fighters, when all he is really doing is asking them interesting and compelling questions. If the likes of Jones and Hopkins aren't guilty of anything, then they shouldn't have to worry about being interviewed by Larry Merchant. The Mayweather interview after the Baldomir fight is classic. Merchant simply asks Floyd in a calm way, "Do you think this was particularly entertaining. We had people booing, some leaving midway through the fight, and since you brought it up, I would like your response". Mayweather goes ape ****, starts shouting, when he was only asked a simple question. He should have been big enough to say, "This wasn't entertaining, but I'm here to win, and Baldomir is a very tough guy to stop". Larry Merchant is the best at what he does, in my opinion.
Bernard Hopkins calling out Junior Middleweights at that point in his career was embarrassing. To defeat some of the outstanding fighters in the world who were moving up and going into the fight as favorites is something different entirely to Bernard calling out "all" Junior Middleweights. What did Merchant have to say after Hopkins defeated Pavlik and Trinidad?
notice how its only mayweather fans who wish death on merchant, bob arum and before mayweather signed to gbp oscar.
This threads about Hopkins who debuted his pro career as a LHW, not Hagler, so lets not change the subject. Hopkins was offered a career high payday to fight Calzaghe and fought this fight here against Hakkar for around 5 times less atsch. Was Hagler offered so much more to fight a bigger opponent? No
If you weren't blinded by your hate you would realize everyone hates Arum. He is awful for the sport. Oscar is a weasel, and I am huge Mayweather guy
Merchant is biased **** and a drunk 1 at that. Yes he asks questions, but shows no class and clear bias, which in his comentating is often disgraceful. Hopkins owned Merchant here
