I wasn't a fan of his ostentatious style of commentary and found it a bit tiresome. He didn't have the chops for colour commentary like Lampley nor the boxing knowledge to make a good blow-by-blow analysis.

 

Hope Larry gets the care he needs to enjoy a few more years of the fight game! He’s earned it!

I can understand that as his role differed from Lampley in that regard.

What I do remember is Larry having to correct Jim throughout many fights when Jim would be heard constantly calling out one particular fighters punches while ignoring his opponents work altogether which really was the typical style of work of Lampley seen on many a nights turning more into a personal cheerleader for a fighter of his liking rather than actually calling the fight right down the middle.

I remember that which for some reason reminded me of that melee that happened with Foreman trying to protect both him & Lampley.

I always liked the fact he spoke his mind and didn't fanboy over any boxer and would call out any BS. Whether I agreed or disagreed with his views I always appreciated that about him.

Some of the stuff he says about Fury is quite funny and I tolerate the Fury trolling to an extent, but this post is just classless and not funny even in a trolling way.

 

Love him or hate him, he was an old school pro journalist that took his job and the sport seriously.

Larry got one over on Floyd. Floyd knew it was nothing but a punk type,cowardly move & Larry rightly called him on it. Cortez was at fault too He NEVER called them to box on as the rules state he should. Look at his face it says " Aww **** what do I do now" Get well Soon Larry You sure put Floyd in his place
