Not everything is cut and dry but in this situation it is because we're dealing with a profession in which there are protocols to follow. When I'm being interviewed for a job and I'm told I'd need to submit a blood test for whatever reason, I'm not going to argue with the person and jeopardize my opportunity to land a job because the request is very much within reason. Why should I easily dismiss Pacquiao for not wanting to take a few blood tests? After all, the guy is a professional boxer. It's his job to overcome mental hurdles. We're not dealing with grade school kids. Again, YES, it is that cut and dry under specified circumstances. You mentioned this in your other post but I don't quite agree that Manny would be the favored one if the fight were to never happen. Let's say Pac retires after this year. Floyd then continues to fight 4 or 5 more times and defeats every one of his opponents (assuming they're elites). Without a doubt Floyd would easily surpass Pac in terms of legacy and perhaps popularity.
I don't fault you for thinking Floyd dominates PAC. I don't agree or understand it but Floyd has a strong track record of winning. Which is why I'm on the other side of this fence. I think Manny wins.....Not dominantly like you feel Floyd would in beating PAC but I see Floyd getting hurt and busted up like we've never seen before b/c Floyd's never faced this kind of challenge from anyone in the past. If Floyd beats Manny I don't think it will be in dominant fashion...it will be the test that most fans wanted to see him in. A fight where he's tested and has to show heart and resolve.....Not that he hasn't shown it in the past but not on the kind of level I expect from Manny.
Even if Floyd's reasons are utter bull****, why won't Manny take the tests? Because he doesn't want to be "dictated" to? GTFOH! Wouldn't it be better to take the tests and humiliate him by whipping his ass? Can someone give me ONE good reason Pac shouldn't take the tests? No ego or superstition BS, but something physical, medical or physiological that should prevent Pac from taking the tests. How many ways are Pac fans going to rationalize allowing him to cheat?atsch
Maybe if Manny was a little "longer" in reach and height. He just doesn't have the physicality to win. This is boxing though so anything can happen. Boxing just needs this fight man. Not that boxing will die or anything, but it would just be a great boost to the sport.
Professional Athlete's have been taking steriods for decades and getting away with it WHY WOULD MANNY BE ANY DIFFERENT !!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh i forgot he's a nice guy ....he would'nt do that sort off thing ????
Sorry but Pac is going to see things he has never seen before IF he ever fights Floyd. His counters will get countered and those leaping punches will fly right into left hooks and right hands. I think it's telling that EVERYONE who has fought both says that Mayweather will win.
Exactly! Protocols that are already regulated and in place by the governing bodies or commissions in place to ensure fighters are clean. Floyd went BEYOND the regulations and protocols b/c he felt he could or had other reasonings behind those requests. No one really knows why. Im sure you feel he just wanted to clean up the sport....forgive me, but I'm not buying that ****.:verysad No one said its you that had to dismiss PAC for not wanting to adhere to all the demands for the measures of the drug tests. I'm just offering you some insight to why I understand Manny. And ASSUMMING you are correct, YES! Floyd if still active and did not retire like PAC is scheduled to do and continued to win and beat TOP fighters in challenges that are just that ....a challenge...then yes...he'd be able to surpass Manny in terms of legacy and popularity. But the question would still remain.....could he have beaten Manny and Manny would have the same question....could he have beaten Floyd.
I know that.:smoke But with Manny's style he'll be able to combat Floyd's effectively in some areas where others Floyd will have advantages. But the bottom line is Floyd is gonna have his hands full. Manny is a very unorthodox fighter....a southpaw fighter who is not only a pressure fighter but an intelligent one. The awkwardness of his punches coming at all sorts of angles and his spuratic rhythm makes him extremely hard to anticipate. Floyd works best feeling out his opponents rhythm in the ring.....and waiting and countering as spots open up. Floyd is a patient man. Manny won't be thrwoing 1 or 2 shots from a conventiaonl stance from conventional angles. He's going to swarm, flurry and dip out on angles. Floyd will catch Manny when he has the chance to open up...but Manny may be too busy and outworks FLoyd over 12. I don't see a KO for either guy but I do see a very tough test for each man.....possibly their most challenging for each.
Dude, this is BS. Fights are NEGOTIATED and, as such, ANY detail is subject to negotiation. This "regulations" argument is void. Floyd didn't break any rules by asking for the stricter testing. Does he think Manny is on PEDs? SO WHAT if he does! Suspicion isn't a crime. There's an easy way to find out. Manny should step up if he's clean.
Of course there are points in any fight to negotiate. Like weight, Size of ring, Gloves and purse split. But the measures of TESTING FIGHTERS ARE THE JOB OF THE GOVERNING BODIES/COMMISSIONS. No one said Floyd broke any rules bro. He just stepped out side the norm in requesting ADDITIONAL testing measures that were outside the sports already implemented policies. And no one said suspicion is a crime. There's no easy way to clear anyone in sports as being clean especially when the accusations were spread ahead of time. There aren't ANY testing measures that are 100% bro....not even USADA's. Even if Floyd and Manny both passed 100 test they imposed there is still room to specualte that they are dirty b/c it's easy to beat the current testing measures that are in place...including the USADA's.
I believe this to be the reason. And I don't think there's anything wrong with it quite frankly. You can do whatever you like to get into your opponents head. Just don't tell me he's trying to clean up the sport. If you believe that, I've got some bridges in New York I'd like to sell you. PM me if interested.
If JMM can do it, Floyd will have no issue. Pac can be easily timed. His mechanics are by rote. His left hand counter is an automatic response to a telegraphed jab... Floyd will be able to bait Manny all night with feints. Manny drops his right hand when he throws the straight left, he'll get countered with hooks the entire night. Don't get me started on Pac eating straight rights all night. Pac is susceptible to everything Mayweather is GREAT at. The only thing I considered is whether Floyd would have enough sting in his punches to keep Pac off of him. His fight against SSM proved that he does. And Floyd will negate Manny's angles by forcing him to fight off his back leg. People don't realize how physically strong Mayweather is... he's going to move Manny around the ring without issue.
Maybe he doesn't actually want to clean up the sport but does that really matter?? What matters to me is we're getting a more potent system which ensures me that I'm getting a clean fight. I work hard for my money and if I'm paying to watch these guys fight I want to be highly confident that I'm getting a fair fight. Why should I or even Floyd trust the standard procedure?? It is outdated and has proven to be flawed. If I hear that there have been robberies within my neighborhood I'm going to upgrade my alarm system. Make sense? Floyd is not that far behind Manny when you compare there resumes. If Pac ends up fighting and defeating Margarito, that's not going help his legacy. In fact, I think it would hurt Pac's reputation. It's likely that Floyd will beat a guy like Martinez or maybe even Williams, which would in my eyes at least, give Floyd an edge over Manny. Would or could Floyd have beaten Manny? Or vice versa? Nobody can say for sure but I think the general consensus is Floyd has too many weapons and more advantages when it comes to skill set. To me it'd be like comparing a cheetah to a wildebeest. Both are extremely fast but the separation is clearly visible. That's not to say a wildebeest couldn't ever outrun a cheetah. Anything can happen in a competition. The cheetah could've been injured. But when you compare natural abilities alone, one guy has an advantage over the other.
