I wouldn't rush getting into it, give it ATLEAST a month and I would suggest a full face headgear

You don't want LASIK, they create a flap or something which can get ****ed up with contact sports, so I'm guessing punches to the face is going to be hazardous. Get LASEK, the recovery time is longer and more painful but you can do contact sports without worry. I had it done 2 weeks ago, there's light sensitivty and a bit of irritation for the first 4 days but after that it's okay. Takes about 6-8 weeks for vision to fully correct tho, right now I'm still quite short sighted. If you tell the surgeons it's for boxing, they will probably recommend LASEK to you anyway.

Do you mean PRK? I'm thinking about getting that when I can finally get time off from my ship to get the procedure. My eyes aren't so ****ed that I get a choice in the matter. That whole Lasik eye flap thing has changed my mind about what procedure i wanted.

To my understanding LASEK is the modern version of PRK, with more accuracy and faster recovery times. I told the surgeons I went to (Optical Express in the UK) that I wanted treatment so I could box, and this was the one they recommended. If you get it you have to take a week off exercise and at least 2 months off from sparring. Also be warned, the asking price for the procedure was £500 per eye, but when they examined my eyes they said I had big pupils and needed an advanced procedure that cost £1,350 per eye :scaredas:so be prepared because that can happen.

After LASIK, I used full face headgear for about 90 days, then went back to regular....

so they call both lasik and lasek? That's weird. PRK is going to be free for me. they're letting US Military people have corrective eye surgery.
