Tried boxing more on the inside & a little more orthodox, what you lads think?

OK firstly, again really good and a bit of an improvement in some areas from last time.

The boxing on the inside didn't work for you early. I think by being more static you are giving away your biggest advantages over your current level of opposition. Your a good mover- you anticipate shots well and you should not translate being 'on the inside' as being less mobile and more of a target.

The problem is that while you slip shots very well you have very limited hand defence. What I mean by that is you don't block hardly any shots - you just slip or roll them all- which is great but you should be able to do both if you hope to be a good inside fighter. Stnading close to the bag and delivering short shots is not the answer to your current deficiencies on the inside.

The final round- where you walked him down was an intelligent tactical change. But whilst that will work at your current level you need to be looking to be a more complete fighter regardless of what your getting away with. Walking down a fresh, strong fighter who knows how to create angles is an entirely different proposition to the novice you were faced with there. You should also use your jab more from that full cover stance.

But thats not to discount your victory- presumably your matched fairly in the competition your in and in that case you look a class above both lads you've fought.

You certainly have lots going for you. I do like the way you slip and counter. Its a great skill to have and though I turned into a bit of brawler at one stage, as an amateur I loved slipping , rolling etc and thats what I work on more now.

Your right hook is a mess and is neither use nor ornament at the moment. Its way to wide and not delivered with the knuckle part of the glove- that needs work and just correcting that will give you so many more options when your looking to counter.

Things i'd look to work on then....

    1. Right hook- simple get that nailed. Watch Kevin Kelley, watch maybe a bit of Pacauiou, watch maybe micheal moorer- you just need to fix it and make it better.

    2. Block techniques- work out a fundamental way to block each shot. Right now I know the way I would block a normal jab, a normal rght hand and a normal left hook. I know how I'd block an uppercut, and body shots. You need to be as resposive to block as you are to punch.

    3. Change the power of your shots more. Tempo changes - power changes. Don't be predictable.

Your good though pal- thats why i'm taking the time to write this. :deal

You made a lot of progress and really cleaned up some of the things you were having trouble with the last time. Some suggestions.
you need to clean up your movement some. By that I mean to try working in circles instead of straight lines, in and out. Circling creates punching angles, especially for southpaw. Also, when he rushed you you not only moved straight back, but you often walked back. You need to correct that; from the time you enter the ring your feet should never come together.
I would also suggest considerable time spent on your punching technique, both hands, but particularly the right. You slap the hook and are real tentative, pushing the jab. There are drills to do that will help you coordinate your hands and feet, and that would really help you a lot.

Ha,ha cheers BB for watching, I've always had a crap right hook just can't seem to turn my hand over & thing is I know I'm doin it wrong but cos the ref didnt pick me up I just kept throwing it,

By blocking do you mean parrying? Gonna work on parrying drills & more arm defences in sparring,

I thought I'd be able to walk him down & stop him in the 3rd but he was still quite strong, over the 3 rounds in the 1st I was winning 5-4 then 8-5 & in the end won 17-5

Cheers greysnotsoold, he was always rushing in on me, never gotta chance to set, my punches do look crap, dunno why aswell?? I always look at pro's who punch so clean & crisp mine always look quite weak like I'm flailing ha,ha dunno how to describe em
