yes, terrific referee. The only fault I really give him is stepping in too late and allowing James Kirkland to get in a few extra shots after he waved it off on glen tapia

Hi Red! Lots going on, still job searching; gotta good prospect at a nursing home $16/hr. That's all I need, wife and I semi-ready for retirement in a couple of years but...darn it I'll miss my gourmet breakfasts, TCM films and Tom and Jerry cartoons in the morning! LOL.
I agree with our Hero-Ingo 1 but our boy wasn't staying down, didn't against Sonny either, no face down 10 count with our guy!
No mention of Emile-Paret 3? Ruby G.? should have jumped in after three or four shots. Not Emile's fault.

When did boxing lose it's "edge" anyway, where they'd just let you go into the deep end of a match, and you routinely saw guys beaten pillar to post. When did boxing become more "civilized"?

I was just watching the Johannson-Machen fight the other day, which is about as indefensible an example of referee negligence as you'll ever see.

@jowcol....best of luck to you in nailing that nursing home job bud!!
We have to factor in that big follow up right to the back of Floyd's head....grrrrrr(!!) that cheap shot continues to rile me!!! Floyd should have gotten a rest period...or a foul called against Ingo,...but it probably would have been a very temporary respite, as that first big blast of "Toonder and lightning" was something else indeed...

Interesting that EXACTLY 10 years later in Sweden (same venue?) Ellis fought Patterson for the WBC belt.
Also interesting is how the Swede's grew to love Floyd.

Rewatched Trinidad-Vargas again (my most rewatched fight besides Corrales-Castillo 1).

The last knockdown was unnecessary. Vargas was done after the 2nd KD of the 12th. He had no clue where he was.

No way Bruno-Cummings sees Frank get past 30 to 45 seconds into round two. In fact, at the time it happened, it would've been stopped anywhere except Wembley or Royal Albert Hall.
