Yeah, they let Bute fight Mendy off their network and they might do that again but no way it would be with Froch and noone wants to see Bute beat up another Mendy or Brinkley type opponent. It would also be a waste to have Bute sit out until summer of later while waiting on Ward to take a home-coming fight.

I get that Showtime wants Bute vs someone like Hopkins, Dirrell, or Kessler instead of Froch. They can match up Ward with the winner of those fights but if Froch beats Bute I think its too soon for any major demand for that rematch. If Bute-Froch face each other twice than there's a real chance they split their fights and then Showtime loses both guys as opponents for Ward.

Showtime knows they better put on a Ward-Bute fight now before both guys are out of their contracts with Showtime and move on to HBO with that fight. The only problem is they are passing up on a really good fight with Bute-Froch and who knows what they are left with in the end, it is a gamble.

I'm missing something. Why would Showtime preffer Bute vs. a nobody instead of Bute vs. Froch? If it's not Froch than it has to be someone better (?).

Bute-Froch would have been a great fight bceause Froch is a more credible ooponent for Bute ; he fought in the s6 final , he's a known name, is a good draw & isn't old.
Bernard Hopkins is the LHW champion , he's great but if Bute will beat him ,people are gonna say that he has beaten an old man. Also Hopkins is under the contract with HBO ; how they gonna make this fight happen ?? ..... and besides that Hopkins has unfinished business with Dawson !! Andre Direll , also is a good fighter but is unknown in U.S.A and he isn't a good draw plus his period of inactivity !!

It's disappointing that Showtime have no interest in this fight. I suppose they want to get Bute in a higher profile fight than what a Froch bout offers, but whether Hopkins will want that fight isn't a certainty. He could demand too much money, as he has many times in the past and if he does, where does that leave Bute? If Hopkins says "no" and Froch fights someone else, possibly Kessler, who is out there for Bute? Another no-hoper, no doubt, whilst Showtime wait to make a fight with Ward.

I'd have loved to have seen Froch and Bute fight. It'd be excellent to see and it's a shame it might not happen. Both guys are very good fighters and it would have been an intriguing bout. The Canadian's deserve to see Bute in a high profile fight and Froch offers that, even though he may lack the status Hopkins has.

Surely more fans would like to see Froch/Ward than watch Hopkins frustrate Bute in a boring fight?

Says who? Why does SHO have to allow Bute and Froch to fight? They don't want the fight? Very well, HBO will be eager to air it. What's the problem?
I really don't get it. What's the f***ing problem (not a troll at your post, just at SHO)?

I'm not sure why Showtime wouldnt want Froch as it seems a very entertaining fight to me also it adds credibility to Bute should he beat him.

But I do know Froch certainly isnt a draw, which in my opinion is a shame he gives his all and comes to fight. Maybe that is the problem?

Were Froch and Bute bought from a slave market? What stops them taking the fight? SHO doesn't want it? So what? When SHO finds a fighter they want for Bute to be available then all are happy. SHO wants Bute to fight Munguba Magalach? Very well then. But after Bute vs. Froch.

Too bad Showtime is able to dictate who Bute fights next.

Froch-Bute would be an entertaining fight between two top 5 super middleweights, but B-Hop's fights are stinkers.

Showtime has every right to refuse to show Bute-Froch but they have no right to try to force him to fight old Borenard. It would be an ugly, boring fight, and as always B-Hop would be behaving childishly, pretending to be fouled. He'll cry like a baby if he loses a decision, like he always does.

They should be trying to get Ward to fight Bute, that was their original plan, for Bute to fight the Super Six winner.

This is my concern too , if they will succeed to materialize a fight with Ward then is a big achievement , although i doubt about this. At smw are three names for Bute : Ward, Froch and Kessler ! Other fights are pointless in terms of money , audience and performance for Bute.:yep

Showtime deserve everything they get, they give Bute a ton of money for a 3 fight deal and let him fight Magee and Johnson and then hope that Ward or Hopkins agree a fight, i loved the super 6 but they come across as rank amateurs.

I don't buy the "SHO dictates Bute fights" ****. There is no contract in the world that can stipulate a fighter is forced not to fight for a given period.

Bute has one more fight left with Showtime so he has to pretty much face whomever they agree to. He could get around that by Showtime allowing him to face someone else and Showtime doesn't carry the fight. They did that with Mendy but that was a fairly easy fight for Bute. No way Showtime lets Bute fight Froch without Showtime carrying it because thats a dangerous fight for Bute and they don't want that fight right now.

The whole problem is that Showtime wants a Ward-Bute fight, they've invested a lot of money on the Super 6 and by giving Bute a 3-fight contract. Now they want the fight they've paid for. Its a very understandable positon Showtime is taking but most aren't crazy about them passing up a good Bute-Froch fight. It will be very interesting to see how this all plays out.

Bute has a several fight deal with Showtime, so if they say he has to fight someone, he has to. It's not right but that's the deal he signed.
