Last hour:Showtime doesn`t agree Bute-Froch!Fight out, or match without Showtime?

Tuneup in March or April? OMG! The very definition of tuneup can not be applied here. Tuneup means a preparatory activity or a warm-up, as before a contest. It usualy takes place after a prolonged period of inactivity or after a boxer lost "his game" for a while (short period).
This can in no way apply to Bute unless he gets KOed by someone or he looks very bad in a future fight in which he is supposed to win. IMO this term is often misused.
Now let's get back to the topic . If SHO wants Dirrell I have no problem with that. It's their money. It's just that hey can not oblige Bute not to fight Froch.

 

Still, even if God says it's OK sometimes, it's illegal.

But B-Hop says he wants to fight Bute, and the head of Showtime is a friend of his (he was previously Golden Boy's attorney).

If they force Bute to fight Borenard, than it's an injustice to Bute. Lucian has nothing to gain and lots to lose by fighting the old ex-convict. :-(

However, if they persuade Ward to fight him, it's all good. And I wouldn't mind seeing Bute in with either Dirrell.

But the sad reality is (according to Dan Rafael and other inside sources) Showtime wants Bute-Hopkins.

 

In the end, don't we all want the big networks to "make" the best fight possible? Don't we all wish that Showtime and HBO would tell Floyd and Manny : "you have to fight each other, we will not buy any other fights." ?

It's silly to replace Bute - Froch by Bute - Hopkins, but Bute - Ward is the #1 fight to make at 168 lbs, and if Showtime has in it's power to tell both Bute and Ward : "fight each other or you don't fight" and really make it happen, then I'm ok with it.

 

You say that "Lucian has nothing to gain and lots to lose by fighting" Bhop. Can you please expand this idea? I mean I agree Bute will look bad if he loses to Bhop. Hell, he'll look bad if he loses to anyone. But why do you say he has nothing to gain? Are you aware of the fact that people give Bute more chances against Froch than against Bhop? I can see you making a case that Bute won't look good against the old man even if he wins but it's not like Bhop has lost any of his matches recently. He is a f***ing icon in the States. Beating a legend that hasn't lost since 2008 to Calzaghe ain't exactly a shitty performance.
I can make a poll on this matter.

But what I found intruging is the fact that you said Bute has nothing to gain against BHop, but on the same time you are OK with him fighting any of the Dirrells :admin.

 

In terms of credibility Bute will gain little against Hopkins but if this fight will happen it should be at 175 for the WBC title that will mean Bute will stay as a LHW and will fight next Dawson,Cloud and Pascal.Froch,Ward and Kessler would have to go up at LHW to fight Bute.

 

- If he beats Borenard, they'll say he robbed an old man. And the old ex-convict will cry like a baby afterwards, claiming he was robbed, and of course the biased Al Bernstein and the patriotic Jim Gray will agree with him. They'll be whining for a hundred years in all these forums about how Borenard was robbed, even if Bute clearly wins the fight, knocking him down a couple of times.

In terms of money Hopkins brings more than Dirrell +has a belt in terms of respect fighting Dirrell he'l earn more +it will prepare Bute for Ward Dirrell is similar in many ways with Ward maybe better in some of them as speed,power,accuracy Ward is better in defense,inside boxing,head and body movement,heart,combination punching.
I prefer Dirrell but it depends what Bute and his managers want if they want to go up at LHW for good(Bute has problems making the weight) they should fight Hopkins.

 

One thing I've noticed about Ward............he's comfortable with 900K/fight. It's obvious he wants BHOP, but will likely take >mil for Dirrel and await BHOP release from HBO or himself sign with HBO for big PPV $$$ vs BHOP.

It would be 5mil+ for both, and neither really runs the risk of damaging their legacy when Ward outpoints Hopkins. Win win really for both.

Surely more people would be interested in a battle with Bute and Froch opposed to a flopping disgrace of a fight from Hopkins. Froch would come to fight, guaranteed and the fans would get their moneys worth. Much better fight. Let the old man cry and complain somewhere else. Showtime is not thinking this out.

Bute has an optional 4th fight with Showtime but he has already been contacted by HBO according to himself.I think Showtime wants Ward but i would be very pleased with Froch.They said they want an American to fight Bute whats wrong with Froch he is still top 3 in the division,Dirrell isnt even top 10 due to his inactivity,Hopkins is an old crying steroid cheater he should fight Dawson to clear things up.

 

Interesting.... didn't knew that. So Froch vs. Bute can happen on HBO if Ward still doesn't want the fight.
Oh ****, forgot about Bhop. Man, this guy is a party crasher .

 

I heard some time a go that the Bute camp is even willing to drop the IBF belt because of the manadatories to fight some big names.
