    What they said is that they are willing to take a step back financially if that means bigger fights for Bute down the road.


    I still don't understand how Hopkins can get out of the WBC/Dawson + HBO contract.

    Of course Ward wouldn't want to go back on his statement and say "Alright alright, he's not worthy of a shot but I'll fight him regardless".

    Bute-Ward: awesome
    Bute-Dirrell: consolation opponent
    Bute-Hopkins: get the **** outta here

    ...as far as Americans are concerned. Really is too bad that they "need" an American.

    What happens if Froch-Bute happens off of Showtime and Froch wins? Is Showtime still stuck with their dumb contract?

    Those two are never going to fight each other. Hopkins has repeatedly said he's too close to Ward to ever want to fight him.

    F*ck, Bute-Froch was an awesome fight, this sucks. Hopkins-Bute would be good but isn't Hopkins fighting Dawson next?

    well if showtime can force Ward into a fight with Bute... that would be great... but who else do they have on payroll ?? Kesler ? Pavlik ?? Froch would have been a great fight and honestly i don't see a better opponent for Bute besides Ward..
    Ps. maybe they want Bute vs Pascal at catch-weight knowing that would be a massive draw for the Canadian market ?

    To be sincere I don't give a f on who they want Bute to fight with. Anyone besides Ward I consider a mandatory that Bute should get rid of asap and sign with HBO for his next fight.

    Indeed, Lucian has one more fight in the contract with SHOWTIME , and they want to see Lucian fighting with a better draw . Andre Ward would have been ideally . Even against Froch would have been a great fight but Froch isn't a black american boxer so he doesn't fit so well in this business.

    If SHOWTIME would "force" or motivate Ward somehow to fight with Bute it would be awesome.

    I think Showtime knows that Bute could sign with HBO and they want one last big-money-pot !
