There is no reason for Khan to fight the top guys just yet. Let him step it up a bit from time-to-time, but he should fight 10 or so bouts over the next three years against someone who will 95% not beat him. Like tonight. Then he can step it up, and at that time even more people will know him making him a bigger draw, and making the other top guys more willing to fight him.

    3 years ?!?! 10 fights?

not stepping up before then could bring down the government. its bad enough with people expecting him to fight for a world title this year, nevermind waiting for 3 years.

ITV are virtually claiming that if Khan stops St Clair he is ready to rule the world. Jim Rosenthal even suggested a quick win like against Earl.

I want to stick my fingers down my throat.

I agree St Clair is no monster, but the hyping of Thaxton is ridicluous as well

who was he beaten senseless by? i think he struggled against vivian harris but he gave everyone else a pretty good fight.

although i want to see khan against thaxton, i don't think he'd have made a better opponent.

Fwank says its eithter European or fight in the states next.....looks like Jono has to look for Murray....Khan may even vacate the commonwealth now, and we know Jono is really interested in that belt, not Khan ;) so he could fight murray for it. Do you think thats what he wants?

thaxton lost to augustus handily - knocked out was the (two) words.

as i said, i want to see him fight thaxton as well, but you have to be wearing hate-tinged spectacles to think this fight wasn't a good learning fight for khan and a good performance.

I have to admit that I was quite impressed with how level-headed Khan remained. It wasn't a dangerous/tough fight but it wasn't an easy fight either. Was impressed with his attitude in the ring, his tactical discipline and decision making. He also showed some good skills and got some good rounds under his belt. I think this fight was a success for Khan! He's on the right road.

Khan was impressive. If I was him I go to america because he'll learn more than winning the european title.
