Well, the age of hit and don't get hit...the age of the sweet science is officially over....

Lara displayed last night what I believed was a winning performance...showing beautiful boxing skills.... Yet he wasn't rewarded with a win...similar to one of the great robberies ODLH v Sweet Pea...

So the likes of the greats like: Sweet Pea, Nico Loche, Willie Pep, PBF, are done with last night scoring by judge Martinez....

Stats have him landing a total of ten more punches than Canelo.

That's nothing, and can be absorbed in a single round. More likely it was absorbed over three and four.

They landed similar amount of punches, compubox count anything outside a jab as a power punch.

They had him landing 10 more jabs, over the 12 rounds.

    Both guys fought well defensively.

    But by how much?

I mean if one guy lands 8 - 7 surely it comes down to who landed the better punches?

yes it does, you are all programmed to give more kudos to the aggressor even if they are ineffective

    But it wasn't "ineffective".

    Alvarez landed punches.

Did he though, he was often out of range to land his own work. But I guess you can say he did a good job of making Canelo come to him and miss widely at times, both guys showed great defence Canelo on the front foot and Lara on the back.

But Lara to me clearly felt the effect of those body shots, head shots don't score more than body shots or vice versa.

Personally gave the fight to Lara but it could have went either way.

yes he was, canelo was plodding along, and people are saying body shots = head shots.

they forget how important jabs are and make them out to be weak

I felt overall Lara was the ring general, but at times he was so far out of range neither guy could land and thus, pick up scoring shots.

Jabs obviously count but depends what type of jab being used a stiff jab should count more than a touch jab or a set up jab etc, so many ways to use the jab, neither guy used it often enough but Orthodox vs Southpaw that is usually the case.

not to mention his entire arsenal this fight consisted of the 1-2...

how many jabs did he land, how many barely landed.. yet you think to what alveraz landed and all i can remember were vicious left anda right hooks to the body and occasionally the straight right to the body (only during the middle to late when lara stopped moving as much)
