    they will not do it though. 15 rounds helped certain fighters more than others. Had the Leonard/Hearns first fight been 12 maybe Hearns would have won, but maybe Leonard would have pored it on earlier.

    , but 3 of those 5 fights ended in knockouts, and the Arguello knockout was devastating. I am surprised Arguello fought Pryor again in the rematch. And the Qawi was gruelings. I couldn't believe Evander was fighting a guy that good every round for 15. Those are exceptions and those are great fighters. I still think 12 rounds is enough. We have had great fights and great fighters since. Guys like Jones and Pacman and Delahoya never saw a 13th round, but they are still regarded as great and would have been no matter what.

    Yeah, there are plenty of times I wish they still went 15. Probably because I am a Hopkins fan.

    But the safety of fighters has to come first, to whatever degree it can. It's a lesson that has been learned in awful ways.

    well you bring up good points. 15 rounds is a long fight. I do think it is significant. 12 rounds to 15 seems a big difference. Guys like Hagler and Chavez could have fought 20 rounds. I admit, if you had Pacman and Floyd scheduled for 15 rounds there is more a chance of a knockout. That is a long way to go for both.

    what if they went 12 and if it was close they could go an extra round. like a winner takes all. So both fighters would know to go all out.

    certain fighters benefit more from 15 rounds that is for sure. Guys like Holyfield or Hagler or Hopkins fight so consistent. Mike McCallum is a guy who would have loved 15 rounds. That might have helped his legacy to have 15 round fights.

    actually I think the NABF or one of the smaller organizations had that. I remember Doug Dewitt fought I think Robbie Sims and the fight was a draw, and draws were not allowed, so they had to put thier gloves back on and fought a round 13-this was like 1989 I think. Neither guy looked thrilled about that extra round believe me, and to be honest they both looked like they got out of the fighting mode in the time the decision was announced. That was a wierd thing to see. But they fought another round and they were very tired.

    Youre right, boxers are still getting hurt even now, so it should be cut to 9 rounds.
    Michael Watson and Gerald Mcellan were badly injured after the ninth round,it possibly wouldnt have happened if they werent fighting beyond that.

    No, nobody wants a return to barbarism, apart from you;
    15 rounds worked just fine.

    thanks,
    do you think it could work if boxers new to expect it, and did not have more than one minute to rest after the 12?

    Its sad at how SICK these people are today. Great post man! I boxed for a while and it was really brutal in that ring, plus 3rnds isnt that easy to fight not including 12!

    Agreed. It would favor certain fighters, for instance Hopkins would have stopped Ornelias. Williams would have put away Martinez who could barely stand up in the 12th

    Sarcasm and this topic don't mix very well.
