i have been one of the people that has asked for more british boxing on boxnation but after last nights show i would rather they concentrated on overseas fights or looked at small hall shows that have decent matches and are promoted by other promoters than frank himself. that was the worst card i have seen in the last decade and im sure that there are better shows out there that could have been shown. am i being too critical? i pay £12 a month and dont grudge that with the international cards but if he is going to show domestic shows id like it to be better than the ones he used to show on sky before leaving!! come on frank do whats best for boxnation and use other promoters around the country and give them the incentive to make better fights to get their cards on a dedicated boxing channel and you could make boxnation the real home of boxing and increase the content and subscription base!
id like to see more british shows on Box Nation so the boys can get showcased, nobody can argue with there international fights whatsoever
That was a co promotion show with pj rowson a small hall promoter in the midlands . Their were only a couple of shows last 2 another being at walsall. The card on tv was alot more competitive
oh well at least he is trying but imo frank should tell the promoters running the shows that unless the card has at least 4 competetive 50/50 fights they dont get to be on boxnation.
Yeah of course he should mate..we don't need any other promoters in the uk with any type of substance other then Fast Eddie.. Also next weeks show with two of his kids fighting for world belts is also dog muck it.. Whilst we have it, with the demise of FW Eddie can put on Lee - Saunders in December instead and charge us £20 PPV
OP's post is a good one. But if you watch Frank's 90 minute Q&A with Kugan Cassius he actualy gets asked a question on this and addresses, he basically says that the budget is being concentrated on getting good fights from abroad at the moment, which I can't argue with, I mean Golovkin/Lemeiux and Cotto/Canelo are coming up, Crawford soon, Matthysse/Postol yesterday...
Hobson now does these type of shows on Spike and they do OK in the ratings- the domestic output of Boxnation needs to centre around four/five big cards a year and then fill in the rest of the schedule with smaller shows.
nothing wrong with small hall shows just get some competitive fights shown. id sooner watch a small hall show than watch some random card from America at 3am
On small hall shows u rarely get 2 50-50 fights never mibd 4. Cause ****** has a couple of midlands lads it makes sense to do a joint promotion were he wont hav any say over the undercard just the lads signed to him. Keeps his midlands fighters happy and gets lads like butler a keep busy fight without hassle of ticket sales. Id just b happy their was some live domestic boxing on
i agree that usually they dont have 2 50/50 bouts but if boxnation is helping fund these shows they will be getting the money to be able to put these kind of bouts on. like i said if w arren was to say you get x amount but you must make the show viable by getting 2-4 50/50 bouts on i think it would work. it would also give promoters the incentive to put these fights on because they could offer better money to the 2 fighters!!
Too many small hall shows these days are a card full of 4x3s featuring a local lad who can shift fifty tickets versus a 4-75 loser, but BN should definitely be trying to get a few area title fights to keep them ticking over. Full credit to PJ Rowson and his ilk, by the way. They keep boxing alive.
