It's strange because you'd think a lad like him would have good footwork. Athletic lad who must of done **** load of footwork drills in college football training you'd think he'd be a bit more lighter on feet at least.
Yeah, especially in his lighter 160/168 days:think tbh I dont toneys style and method of fighting didnt really rely on great footwork I suppose, he was as effective pinned against the ropes rolling and countering as he was centre ring, and his offense and defense didnt really come off using good footwork. Still a legit criticism though, and of course he would have been an better more complete fighter with good feet.
Good Post :good His lazy sorta demeanor helped as well strange as it sounds, Helped him go from quiet to offensive and really shock the opponent. I think the best defensive fighters are the more relaxed type. I love watching Toney fight really do.. BTW PK Cheers Pal :good
I think he will get a kicking but Toney is a G The Barkley fight is a beautiful one to watch. A lesson on how to sit in the pocket & counter all night long.
:good All the very best defensive fighters seem to have that innate confidence to be relaxed when in range, especially when rolling with the blows, they take very few clean punches. Toney was very good at countering with unorthodox shots, he was a great talent.
Exactly :good, I think it helps being loose and also seeing shots. Mayweather mentions it now and then about being relaxed and calm when taking shots or being in range.
that reminds me, I saw in the general today, Mayorga is another a prime example of staying relaxed in the pocket ha [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qi3wJKxoRnI&feature=player_embedded[/ame]
:rofl I love way he actually looks skilled and at home and as soon as fight comes off ropes he swings misses badly!.
Mayorga was class, exactly the type of nails dangerman every Shark tank of an era needs. He fought the best numerous times, and he beat the best twice :yep
