    THE COMEBACK FROM NEAR DEFEAT

    KO in KNOXVILLE:
1980 - Mike Weaver scores a come from behind
KO over John Tate to win the WBA heavyweight title.
However, most still considered LARRY HOLMES the
real heavyweight champ. However, in the Tate
fight, Weaver with less than a minute to go in
the fight and losing on all score cards, he unloaded
a devastating left hook to starch Tate

WEAVER held his slice of the heavyweight title
and had a couple of wins, but then came
DOKES and it was over in 1982 when the KO
artist was caught cold in Round 1.:patsch

SECONDS TO GO - LAMOTTA SCORES A HOME RUN TO SAVE THE DAY
1950 - If the Weaver vs Tate affair was the comeback of the decade, then
Jake LaMotta's hail mary against Laurent Dauthuille with seconds to go
must be the comeback of the Century. But, the writing was on the wall,
if the "Raging Bull" could be picked apart for 14 plus rounds, his hopes
against the best middleweights were fading fast. Well it didn't take long
for welterweight champion Sugar Ray Robinson to move in and give tough Jake a painting lesson. A Jake became one of the best catchers in boxing for 13 rounds of punishment and pain in 1951. :bbb
