He was having more success and getting to Cotto a little bit as the fight progressed, but, he didn't have enough in himself and Cotto was too fresh for that first fight to be completely replicated. So no, I don't think he was on the verge of pulling out a victory.

Virtually EVERY bout Cotto has from now on, he will have facial damage. It's called wear and tear.

Cotto was in total control the whole fight. Marg was never going to do anything in the last 3 rds to change the pattern of the fight. Cotto out boxed him the whole fight & worked angles beautifully that nullified anything Marg was trying to do. Great win for Cotto.

This . Maybe if it was a 15 round fight he'd have enough time to get the stoppage. Anyway you cut it, Margo would have always been a difficult fight for Cotto. Cotto toughed it out better this time though.

Cotto/Margarito 1 seemed to be Margarito's last good performance. Illegal wraps or not, he has looked so slow afterwards, anyone else agree? He was never a good textbook boxer but his punches have almost no snap to them, I remember his vicious body uppercuts a little while back and don't see them anymore. No excuse though since Cotto was giving him a boxing lesson the first time and I feel that if he made it to the final bell he would have won anyway.

Cotto would've continued to put a beating on Margarito, there were no signs of margarito getting anything from that fight.

it would have been better if COTTO made the ref stop the fight....not the damn doctor.

    that was weak

I hate that the fight was stopped before Cotto was able to stop Tony himself. And what's worse, Smogger has said to the public that he thinks Cotto was spent and Tony was there to take him out. So now the Tony huggers have their ammo and journalists who listen to Smogger think Cotto is shot, damaged, and completely finished in boxing.

To be honest I dont know why the ref didnt let the fight continue, **** his eye. It's not like he had any regard for his opponents health when he was using the hand wraps.

It wasn't the ref Emeritus. Snogger wanted the fight to continue but it came down to the Doctor who waved off the fight. The ref went on record saying he saw Margo starting to pick up the pace and could of possibly caught Cotto.

Personaly, I think Cotto would of pulled out the UD, but who knows he could of caught Margo as well and finished him himself, but was robbed of that oppertunity.

Cotto wouldve quit again. Lucky he had the whole NYC community to save him. Arum must be kicking himself for helping Cotto just to see him get with the money team.
