Dunno how bad the hip injury actually is but its clear to see for quite a while now, Choc doesnt move like he used to, whether thats because of age or the hip I don't know. Ive also heard the main reason he hasn't ended going to the states is because the meds in the US fight scene will not pass his eye, again dont know how true this actually is but it sounds feasible
Someone is obviously telling big porky pies about his ability to fight in the States, and have been for a while now, and I'm not pointing at you Whipsy: ANTHONY Mundine is adamant a boxing career awaits him in the US. by Tony Sheahan - Sunday Herald Sun - April 10th 2011 The much-maligned Mundine was forced to reassess his travel plans after his shock loss in December to inexperienced brawler Garth Wood, which cast doubt over whether he would, or even should, continue to fight. "I am still going to the States to fight," Mundine told friends last week. Travel plans are already being drawn up for the fighter to spend a month in Los Angeles. Mundine, who turns 36 next month, sounded out legendary trainer Freddy Roach late last year to help take him to stardom in the US. But Roach has warned the controversial kid from Redfern that this would be no holiday in Hollywood. "I don't have time for lazy fighters," Roach said from his Wild Card gym in Los Angeles. "If you don't want to train and get in shape and follow the rules and do it correctly, stay home." Roach packs a mean punch and has little time for wannabes, but he knows Mundine is no ordinary tourist looking to make a dollar. "I know he has talent and he is a very athletic person, but he is a little bit green in some areas of boxing," Roach said. "It seems like he just needs a little direction. But he definitely has potential. "If he can make it through my gym workouts and the sparring I'll line up for him, then he will make it on the world stage. "If he is willing to listen, I'm sure I could fit him in. He is a great athlete, but not a complete fighter, I don't think yet." Mundine stunned the sporting world when he went down to little-known Sydneysider Wood. It shelved plans for an immediate trip across the Pacific, where Mundine was planning to head after what was thought to be an easy bout. Instead, he now faces a crucial rematch with Wood in Brisbane on Wednesday night. "It seemed like he had all the talent in his last fight, and the other guy had all the balls, and I guess the balls took over," Roach said. "He needs to use his ability. He needs to train and really get in shape. And he needs to work on certain areas, but that's what I live for. I like to improve fighters. "If I can make someone a better fighter, that's what I do." Roach said Mundine should quit trying to win titles at a lower weight, and stick to middleweight or supermiddleweight divisions. "I like him as a middleweight. He seems comfortable and strong," he said. "But if he has to skip meals to make the weight and deprive his body, well then I think he is foolish." Roach scoffed at suggestions Mundine was too old to carve a new career in the US.
Its just what i heard from someone who works with a certain trainer out penrith way.... Like i said i don't know how true it is and i did say at the time i was told, it doesn't make a lot of sense, I'm sure if it was so bad as he cant get a license in the states to fight then he would also have troubles over here?
Are we meant to read this and feel sorry? Is this the last PR for PPV sales boost pre-fight? If so, my heart ****ing bleeds, aahhhh, NOT.
I think he is going to get knocked out again. Garth will be in better condition than the first time round having been in thailand training with high humidity and weather. Mundine doesnt seem to be doing anything new imo.
Your last response you said "it doesn't make a lot of sense" and the post before you said the above?? Do you even know what you think :huh
Yeah my wording wasn't the best, I was actually referring to the whole hip thing as being a feasible excuse for his recent poor showings
I read that it was cancelled? Also intresting to note that Khoder has revealed the profits are more fesable in Brisbane when we have another story from Danny Green saying the Tarver fight is more fessable in Sydney? One camp telling us one thing another telling us the opposite. Someones not telling the truth.
The bigger question is can he get a medical clearance to fight in the States? It's hard to tell BOXA's 'core' lies from their 'non-core' lies, so who'd ever know the truth!
Media weights Wood 72.8 Choc 72.7 Looked as if Garth threw a headbut and then some push and shove...looks like it's going to get heated come Wednesday
2 different fights 2 different scenarios the first fight with garth was looked at by alot as a total mis match and so alot of people would not have been interested, the second fight you will have the haters who missed the first baying for blood and another Ko and the huggers hoping he can regain his pride so it was always going to be a bigger fight Brisbane just opened up a new audience who couldn't make the first, green v Tarver in Sydney is better because of a few reasons Star City put in a heap to have green stay there and all pre publicity as well as after fight parties plenty of big arenas for the Tickets and no black out for PPV so works best
