I went to a local boxing card back in the 70's in Tampa that had like 7 fights on the card. My buddies and I settled into our seats for what we thought would be a good night of boxing.

We didn't even finish two beers and the entire card was done. I think there were five first round stoppages and the longest fight didn't get through the third.

    Imagine this for a card.......

Lennox Lewis vs Audley Harrison
    David Haye vs Enzo Maccarinelli
    Roy Jones vs Clinton Woods
Joe Calzaghe vs Peter Manfredo
Kelly Pavlik vs Gary Lockett
    Antonio Margarito vs Matthew Hatton
Ricky Hatton vs Amir Khan :rofl

Would be over in ten minutes flat!

The entire Pavlik v Lockett card did not go the distance.

Yeah, he was reckoning on late 2009 - 'when I'm world champion and ready to move up in weight....... if Ricky is still around it would be a great fight'

    Hatton's response.......

'Well....... I'm sure it would be a huge event for the whole country, if Amir keeps improving it may happen. Politics may play it's part, but if I could promote the show it might work'

What about a drunk Ricky Hatton vs Amir Khan? I'd pay to see it.

I think Khan would probably take a dive after about two minutes.

Hatton isn't as wild as Prescott and wouldn't simply come out throwing bombs - the moment a decent body shot lands the game would be over.

Not only is Amir non-existent in the chin department, he cannot fight on the inside at all.

Everyone was facing subpar opposition. These were all fights to pads one record. I'm not necessarily against taking these types of fights, it does after all keep the fighter busy, but we the fans need to recognized them for what they are.

And that was a close to prime RJJ.

That one goes the distance now.
