Floyd Mayweather is fighting Victor Ortiz who has one win in his career at the weight he is fighting in September vs Floyd (Andre Berto).

Floyd's last 3 opponents (Mosley,JMM, Hatton) had ZERO wins at WW within 15 months of fighting him.

So in 5 years fighting at Welter the only WW opponent who was defeated within 15 months of facing Floyd was Andre Berto.

JMM = 0-1 @147
Hatton = 1-1 @147
Mosley = 1-3 in his last 4 @ 147

This makes 5 years as a Welter 2007,8,9,10,11 fighting opponents who have 3 wins and 5 losses in the last 5 years. Clottey alone is 5-2 in that same time period.

Most importantly Floyd retired in 2008 when WW was stacked with
Cotto, Clottey, Margarito, P. Williams and Cintron. Coincidence ?

oscar hit's harder but it doesn't matter when you can't pull the trigger anymore. and you realized that all he did with floyd was just jabs in a staright forward manner and gassing by the 8th round? cotto would frustrated that oscar with movements. bringing margarito was irrelevent because that margarito would also smash oscar that's why oscar picked a lightweight pacquiao instead of margarito remember?

the odds did not reflect that. floyd was an easy favorite knowing that msoley was coming from a long period of inactivity. his next fight against mora confirmed that mosley was already shot by that time.

 

oscar was just that a big guy at 154 when floyd fought him. cotto had boxed margarito quite well in the first 6 rounds. margarito grows stronger as rounds progressed while oscar gasses. cotto would have decisioned that same oscar using his quickness and movement.

 

oscar couldn't pull the trigger according to roach which he noticed while training him for the floyd fight. roach knew this oscar handicapped before-hand. and it shows in the floyd fight when all he can unleash was his jab and stopped doing so after 7/8 rounds. oscar was going downhill already since the sturm fight. a win he could only show aws against a crude mayorga who cotto outclassed easily.

floyd was easily cut-off because he was just backing straight-up. cotto was actually moving great against mosley and the first 6 rounds of the margo fight. that same cotto would have smashed the part-time boxer / promoter. there's a reason why oscar opted to fight a lightweight pacquiao than a margarito back then.

 

let's make it clear. i am comparing the oscar that floyd fought to margarito at that time and not the oscar who fought mosley and trinidad in his prime. you act like floyd fought the same version when all oscar could show was a win against a crude mayorga.
