Terrence Crawford is attempting to get all 4 belts this saturday if I'm not mistaken. Was the last time this happened was when Jermain Taylor got all four belts? I can't recall any other time.

Middleweight, Hopkins and passed on Taylor, is the only time all 4 belts were unified.

Yeah, I think the only guys who managed to do it were Tszyu and Hopkins, and then Hopkins lost them to Taylor and they got scattered to the winds again.

Hopkins and Taylor are the only two in history so far.

    Would be quite the feat.

Be nice to see the winner of GGG-Canelo fight Saunders and clean up that division too

Another reason why the alphabet orgs suck. There have been tons of times where a unification of 2 or 3 of the belts became scheduled, and because they became scheduled, one of them dips out and strips or is dropped. Silly. I actually think the belts could go a good ways toward earning respect if they genuinely encouraged unification. But that would be counterproductive toward their business model. Soooo...

I like both Crawford and Indongo. Picking Crawford. Tremendous fight on paper and respect to both boxers, their promoters, and the soup belts for this one.

Remember, if Canelo wins the WBC belt will become vacant.

Crawford can only fight the guys in front of him but I think after having one of the weakest lineage creating fights in recent memory at 135, he's now getting the rare chance to unify a division with arguably even less resistance. He's clearly top 3 or top 5 in the sport but has also benefited a bit from competing in the right divisions at the right times.

Not too different from others in similar spots. I guess I'm slightly higher on fighting Indongo right now than you are.

I do wholeheartedly agree that fighting Beltran when he did to create a lineal title at 135 was probably the single worst case of that ever, truly.

No Indongo is definitely the best fight to be made at 140. I do wish he would've dispatched with Matthysse before Postol did though and would probably be more impressed with his run if that had been the case.

I also just think talk of going lineal or unifying alone can sometimes obscure the actual quality of wins one's been getting. Bradley never even became lineal at 140 yet I'd say I probably prefer his work in the division to Crawford's.

Also, the winner of the cruiserweight WBSS will have four belts. Too bad it's only the WBA regular, but since WBA super Lebedev lost to Gassiev who's in the tournament it's basically cleaning up the division.

Usually before all belts are unified one or more of the Titles is stripped or vacated so doesn't happen often.

Example would be 1st Mormick vs Bell fight was for the WBA, IBF and WBC

The IBF was then either stripped or vacted as Bell did not have a fight before the rematch which was for only 2 of the 3 belts.

Meaning Haye vs Mormeck was only for WBA, WBO and WBC instead of all 4 which it probably should have been.

Calzaghe almost did it but the IBF stripped him of the title because he wouldn't fight the mandatory Robert Stieglitz. Had he done so he would have held the WBC/WBA/IBF/WBO/IBO/RING/Lineal titles at the same time.

    A shame.
