I think KO Magazine ranked Mike Tyson #1 and Michael Spinks # 2 P4P

Why not the Klitchsko's though. As far as Pac goes, Although he seems to be on a massive role, he has a recent SD with Marquez (which followed his draw) and only a 2-1 series win over Morales. The Klitchsko's by contrast have not really been pushed by anyone in their division, since they started their golden runs which ahve been every bit as long as Pac's golden run. I dont see how Pacman can be ranked over either at this stage. Mayweather, I think on his dominant results probably does need to be at number one. Actually, looking solely at results, i think it quite clear that Mayweather might start favourite. My gut feeling though is that one of them, probably pacman will slip up before the fight and boxing will have shot itself in the foot.

I think Wongjongkam has a high all time ranking in the flyweight division. Posibly comparable or better than the above 3 fighters. Arguably (in fact likely) he has a much better flyweight record than Manny Why penalise him for not pushing weights and raising in the weights. Donaire is actually not a bad call. Khan and Gamboa, may end up improving their legacy, but i dont think they can compete as anything but unproven underdogs against the classes of Manny, Floyd, Wlad and Vitali, in the mythical pound for pound championship.

Yeah I kinda figured Burt, I was talking more in terms of ability rather than rating.

Even in ability SS, the above fighters were considered better P4P fighters
    at that rich-laden era,1947-48. :good

You can throw Martinez and Donaire into the P4P mix at the moment IMO.

I know Burt, but the point I'm getting at, is that it's arguable that they ACTUALLY weren't better as far as ability goes, despite what they were CONSIDERED at the time.

E.g. Hearns was considered a better fighter in 1985 than Julio Cesar Chavez, but ACTUALLY (imo) we wasn't.

Or, Taylor was considered a better fighter than Whitaker in 1989, when ACTUALLY (imo) he wasn't.

SS,your probably correct to assume that the "Keed",was in the same pantheon as Charles, Moore, Pep, Williams. Anyone that gave the great Ray Robinson such tough bouts, belongs in that group. And Gavilan had a chin second to none.:hi:

Because if the Klits were the same size as Mayweather/Pacquaio/Donaire they would be completely dominated, their skillset isn't nearly as good. P4P their opposition isn't as good because they are in a weak division. They are usually beating smaller men too, so P4P that isn't impressive. Pac and Mayweather are both beating men weighing 10-20lbs heavier than them in the ring - that's how much their opposition rehydrates. Wlad and Vitali are 2 seperate fighters too and Vitali's opposition isn't close to Wlad's outside of his losses. Beating Adamek isn't that impressive, Dawson dominated Adamek

Gamboa and Khan I rank more on potential of how good I think they are. I maybe wrong about Khan but if anyone beats Mayweather 147 and below, he's the only 1 I'd give a shot too not Manny, because he's rangier, has a great jab, tight guard, very high output, combinations to the head and body and constant movement

Just what I was thinking... DeLaHoya vs. Trinidad, Mosley... and even Whitacker should get a mention as well.

    Morales vs. Barrera and Pacquiao

    Pacquiao vs. Marquez

maybe not #1 vs. #2 in all of these, but close

Pacquiao VS Marquez in 2008 was to settle the P4P #1, and the rankings before and after the fight reflected this.

Toney/Jones was sopused to be Toney's coming out party. He not Jones was considered to be the next pound for pound #1 at the time. Jones win in the fight was an upset.

I don't think so. I don't think that anyone things that any of those boxers are better p4p than Mayweather and Pacquiao; you can make a good argument for Hopkins in his prime.
