Who do you guys know that started boxing at a late age? It helps to know people who started old so i dont feel like wasting my time. I heard winky wright started at 16 and kermit at 19, thats pretty old IMO compared to guys like ODLH or RJJ starting at 6 or whatnot.

Tarver fought Roy Jones as an amateur I think when he was 13 maybe younger.

Oh and Hopkins turned pro at 23.

Both Hopkins and Tarver boxed as kids. They got caught up in trouble in their teen years, with Tarver doing crack and Hopkins going in and out of jail.

Tarver said he started boxing again when he was Roy in the Olympics in 1988, and had a great amateur career before turning pro after the 1996 Olympics.

Hopkins went back to the sport when he went to prison. I don't know if he had any amateur fights after prison, but his record is listed at 95-4.
