Why? The only person who brings all the revenue to the table is Joshua. The tickets, the buyrates, the TV deals all driven by AJ. Having a belt doesn't mean you should get a bigger share of the pie when you don't bring anything else to the table. Parker getting 20 - 25% of the split would still means his hit the Jackpot. FFS Parker's last defence was streamed on youtube and bought by about 10 people.
Hughie was mandatory (somehow) so I guess the WBO could postpone their actual order for the fight to happen back by a few months so it happens towards the end of next year but I still doubt they'd give him more than one voluntary. What's the absolute maximum he could make in a voluntary? He pocketed $1.8M for the Hughie fight but that was because Mick paid well over the odds to make sure it happened in the UK. Maybe a trans-Tasman clash with Browne would earn him a nice $3-4M? (Have to ask a Kiwi poster if that's an accurate estimate). Still pales in comparison to the Joshua fight, but I guess Browne is a viable option to milk the belt for some cash while also stalling Hearn's future plans. Not that it puts off the Povetkin mandatory.
If Joshua offered me less than he was mandated to offer whatever patsy the IBF or WBA were lining up for him then I'd tel him to do one. You want to try to add my strap to your collection? Cool but don't try and treat me like some up and coming contender lucky to be sharing a ring with you. Joshua is the draw but mopping up all of the titles should be his aim and for that he needs to fight Parker who lets face it would be Joshua's second best win. We're not talking about some Molina type here. Give him 30% and keep everyone happy.
80-20 seems a little harsh but then i see atleast 80% of revenue brought in is by Joshua due to his massive popularity. Hearn can offer 30 or 35% and still make an absolute killing aswell as making the whole process run alot smoother. Would be dumb for a fight like this to fall apart due to the money split.
Was thinking 75/25 to be perfect. Champ vs challenger... Doesn't matter, parker would only sell his belt for retirement money. After watching how easily takam was touching up parker I don't even want to see this. I've seen only the first few rounds and takam was beating parker to the punch and landing too clean too often
Not any chance that could even happen. Parker doesn't have the specific talent needed to give yourself the chance for the upset. 2 very different lever of fighter. There's some out there with the ability to knock the "big stuff" out. If Aj is such a big stiffed fraud why hadn't he struggled with anyone other than the only wlad that's ever entered s ring ?
I wouldn't go as far as he's a fraud but he is a big stiff idiot. No head movement, no lateral movement, can't improvise, straight line, jab, right hand, occasional hook to the body. Did throw an all timer uppercut on old man Wlad, but was going to the cads with Takam. A short guy throwing feints who isn't that mobile himself.
i have been self employed 36 years . i do not give a **** what other people are getting paid in the same proffesion as me as long as i think that is good money that is all i care about. the percentages in boxing is just an ego thing / dont worry about what the other man is getting just think what am i going to get. the old saying is true 40% of nothing is nothing . i have no idea what parker gets for his nz fights . team wilder has been paying his opponents 150k so no money there. povetkin definatley has rybinsky money behind him so money to be made there. whyte and AJ have hearns money david haye brings money to the table. ortiz /nope fury i forgot / yep ,but he would go the AJ route if he comes back parker might get a million uk in NZ for fighting anyone ? and if that was me 1 million a fight would mean no one would dictate terms to me .
This. Parker deserves 30-35% and would take it in a heartbeat if Joshua's side gave him a fair offer. But I doubt Parker is desperate enough to take less than 30%.
They should introduce an option when ordering PPV to choose which fighter you are paying to see/support and that fighter keeps all of the revenue from who ever orders to watch him, this would also be an awesome new statistic to have for fights.
