Abraham is admitting what I said a while back. He is already done at 160. If this fight happened tomorrow it would be too late. If Pavlik moved up first we wouldn't hear the end of DUCK would we? :-(

Well the difference is Team Abraham has been publicly looking for a Pavlik-Abraham fight, they've won in the court of public appeals and that's all people care about sometimes.

    You are correct here.

AA keeps calling out Pavlik and KP fights Rubio, Lockett, and and aborted fight w/ Mora.

Unless we see some behind the scene going ons then AA wins the battle of who ducked who.

If thats how it ends up playing itself out.

To be fair I think as time passes, people will become more awares as to how little power Pavlik compared to guys like Dunkin and Bob Arum.

The way I see it at this point, it's all over but the cryin.

I'd agree-Arum is probably calling the shots for Pavlik.

It would be nice to see KP demand more control of his future.

    I don't think, for a second, he'd duck anyone.

But letting Arum call all the shots will lead him down the disappointing road he is slowly going down.

Demanding more say or getting out of the Bob Arum business fast as possible would be a smart move by KP.

Seems to me that if Allan Green is trying to get a fight with Abraham in november, he'll price himself out of the negociations, because he knows he's gonna get his ass kicked!:bbb

I would like to see Abraham fight Green. Good fight in what is fast becoming the best division in boxing. Adding AA to the super middleweight division would be add even more excitement. As for Pavlik-AA, Arum won't make the fight because he feels he can't make any money on that fight, for whatever reason. Simple as that. If the promoter feels he can't make money, it won't happen. Kelly has no choice in the matter. I personally feel he desperately wants to fight AA.

I think AA could beat Froch. I mean Stevie wonder could hit Carl Froch, and if AA caught him flush, it's over.

The main reason we have all been so fixated on Pavlik/Abraham is that it's the only big fight there is at 160. At 168 there are many big fights AA could get, but based on the fact that Miranda is his best opponent to date, I'd be surprised to see Sauerland actually make those fights.

All this noise about calling Pavlik out is just a lot of "sound and fury signifying nothing." Where was Arthur in 2006 when Kelly was desperate for a title shot? How come Sauerland stabbed Zuniga in the back in the spring of 2008, and gave Ayala a fight instead? Wouldn't it have made more sense to put two Pavlik victims on his resume'? Did Sauerland make any effort to put Abraham/Marquez on the Pavlik/Hopkins card? Arum and Marquez are friends. They probably could have worked something out, but never tried. I'm just trying to point out that Sauerland is not entirely innocent in this situation. He has many viable options he never followed through on.

Good points here Boo. As is par for the course in negotiations, it's all politics. And "politics", as I like to define them, are essentially what spans the entire gray area between the black and white most people wish things operated in.

Fact is, whoever's to "blame" and has to wear the black hat matters alot less than that 2 professional promoters couldn't work out the biggest MW fight available. All that adds up to is a loss for the fans, because I have no doubt each of the fighters would've given it 110%. But, at the end of the day, what can you really do? That's politics for you.

The sad thing is Pavlik loses more than anyone. Let's face it, boxing fans are fickle folks. The up side of "fickle" is that KP is one big win away from regaining the same status he had after the 2nd Taylor fight. He just got screwed out of his best shot at such a win.

Pretty much- it's not even "what have you done for me lately", so much as "what have you done for me NOW?". That always winds up being a double edged sword, as you said, and all it takes is another big win to get the hype back.

IMO, the only other guy out there at middleweight who could give him that kind of career buzz again outside of AA, right now, is Paul Williams. Short of that, Kelly will have to make a choice- keep 160 cleared out and stay there while some prospects inevitably build themselves up and continue to dominate in the meantime, or throw his name in the hat at 168, where things are hotter right now at the expense of giving up one of the more prestigious titles in the sport. If he takes the latter path, that's where the real irony could happen- we might finally get to see the middleweight fight everyone's talking about after all, the only wash is it it'd be happening at 168 instead

Since Pavlik got injured or infected or whatever (get well soon!), but only to postpone his voluntary joke fight vs. Mora, it's clear that KP-AA is not a realistic fight. AA fights badly drained nowadays and hardly can make the MW limit. No need to stay at 160 waiting on Pavlik and Mob Arum, select from the awful competition willing to fight him and get the Booradleys negative response how weak his competition is and how poorly he fights. :patsch

    F*ck Pavlik, move up Champ!

Move up and fight Froch. AA becomes a 2 division world titlist. Kessler and Bute would kick Arthur's ass. Froch he can beat, so why not. Smart move on Arthur's part. Get's to keep his zero, and pick up a 2nd title.

if he moves up he could get a good fight and try to prove himself against numerous different guys. smw is a decently deep division nowadays...
