Right now there’s no development,” Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum told the Philippine Star in Manila. “Obviously we’re waiting to hear from the Mayweather people, but we’re prepared to do the fight in May. It will be late in May, but the problem remains the same in that no one from Mayweather’s side would guarantee his purse. I can only guarantee Manny’s purse, but if Floyd wants to make a deal with me then I’m open to that. I can guarantee his purse but I then I will have a share in his revenue.” Arum also told the paper that he needs to discuss an alternate opponent if the Mayweather fight doesn’t happen.
Meanwhile Pacquiao has stated the fight is no problem “as long as it’s a 50/50 split,” and both Arum and chief adviser Mike Koncz have ruled out the 17,000-seat MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, insisting on a special 40,000-seat temporary arena.
On the Mayweather front, Golden Boy has reportedly eliminated Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero from consideration as a possible Floyd opponent, should the Pacman fight night happen.

Yes and thats going to be start of a long negotiation to sort all that out because Mayweather will ask for a ridiculous guarantee, one that Arum will never agree to.

Looks like Bob wants to squeeze out Goldengirls. Oh that Bob, he's slicker than Twitter-thug. Now I can see why Hoya and Schaefer are waging this pr war.

See this is the problem and this is why the fight isn't ever ahppening. Floyd knows this too. For him to fight Pacquiao he has to deal with Top Rank / Bob Arum and split up the revenue , whereas with a GBP fighter he can get a better deal. It's always been about money. Floyd's 'call out' is nothing but posturing and he's already lined up a fight with somebody else.

Not really. If Arum and Mayweather can agree on a guaranteed purse for Floyd or a split of the revenues it can be made no problem. I think Arum is pretty aware of what the fight is capable of doing numbers wise as is Mayweather but Mayweather will ask for a crazy guarantee and Arum will ask for the lions share of the revenue. You cant blame one side, but Arum has more to lose therefore hes going to be the most conservative with his offer.

Well, as I said it's all about the money. It's easier for Floyd to fight a GBP fighter and make 30-40 mill guaranteed then having to deal with Bob Arum/ TR and share profit. On top of that he isn't risking his 0 against a a guy who can beat him.

Pac hasn`t got the ability to beat Mayweather, arum knows it, his team knows it & judging by very recent behaviour it looks as if Pac knows it too... that is the reason this fight is not happening.

If Mayweather already has a fight lined up then all Pac/arum has to do is say yes to May 5th & make Floyd look like a right ***** but they are not saying yes because they know Mayweather is serious.

I understand Pac is your favourite fighter & its hard to accept the truth.. I would be the same if Morales was in Pac`s shoes... but c`mon man, wake the **** up.

Same goes for Manny though. He can fight Arums handpicked opponents and beat them and Arum can guarantee Manny good money because of what he makes on the tv and revenue sides and have little problems negotating the deals. Its simple biz really. No guessing as he has a pretty good idea of what the numbers will be already.

But, thats not what the sport of boxing is about. Its about the best fighting each other and if either fighter really wanted the fight they would bend to make it happen. Both are to blame, but I think Mayweather is less interested in the legacy side than making money so its going to take Manny to accomdate Floyds ego a little to get it done if he truly wants the fight.

Mayweather doesn't ask for guarantees, he/Mayweather Promotions guarantees his own purses removing the middle men, Arum knows this and is talking BS. If Mayweather did discuss this later date (and **** off spending time with his family prior to his jail sentence), Arum would throw in some other road blocks and look to skim money of Mayweather's side.

Arum's been in lie and roadblock mode the past week and it's plain obvious

16000 people will be in the arena
Advertisers like Tecate and all those airlines will pay to advertise as usual
All the refreshments sold are usually Mayweather's.
Arum can guarantee Pacquiao no problem. He gets a percentage for the promotion then Mayweather gets half of all the revenue.
This is a no brainer but Arum wants Mayweather's money that's all.

It doesnt matter. Mayweather knows what kind of money he stands to make in this fight. He can ask for that guaranteed from Arum and let him promote the fight. The problem is that figure contains a large portion of money that Arum would expect to make.
A few weeks ago Arum said he would be open to taking a step aside fee and just have his name on the promotion, so basically he would get a fee to allow Mayweather to "co" promote the fight with him although the other side would be responsible for all the gurantees but as I said before Im sure those numbers are unacceptable to both sides.

For once i'am inclined to agree with you, i've always thought as you know that pac would breeze an easy UD against Floyd. Well, thats the Pac of DLH & especially Cotto fights, but now it'd be a close run thing. I don't see any harm in making the fight for May 26th but as you quite rightly said just go with 5th May & be done with it. Then & only then will be see if it's just another smokescreen from Mayweather who IMHO will scupper the fight with another loonie-toon demand.

I honestly think that TR ar'nt handling this at all well, they proberbly know that Mayweather ai'nt serious about facing of with pac for all the marbles when floydie can thieve another $30Million against a less dangerous foe.

But i'am of the mind that Pac would fight anyone anywhere anytime, but he's surrounded by vultures who's interest is too milk the Pac $$$$ cow slow & regular & just like mayweather & his crew, this fight is not what either camps want as the loser's camp/hangers-on are going to be rapidly unemployed.
