The amount could go a little higher, but if Caballero doesnt take it he would be kicking himself later on the future. The truth is the lower division fighters dont make large amounts like we are use to seeing by heavyweights or even the hottest division like the welterweight guys. $150,000 for this fight could line up potential bigger fights for way more money if he defeats Lopez. He becomes a bigger name. Is either put up or shut up for him and his team this time. Lopez has no time to waste and has a whole line up of fighters waiting for him from Gamboa to Rojas to potential fights with Vasquez or Marquez.:good

2010 is going to be an interesting year for the division.

 

JuanMa should be ashamed of himself. First he made all these excuses about why he wasn't going to fight Cab, then he demanded $1 mill like he's a big draw or something, then he claimed he was going to fight Cab in January, then his team acted like Cab didn't exist after this fight, now his promoter is lyhing about offers that were never made. This is sad. I wish he would just come out and say that he isn't going to fight Cab anytime soon. I would have no problem with that.

 

Izzy and Marquez didn't even get $1 mill when they fought eachother. He's not getting $1 mill for any fight in that weight class.

 

I think the 1 million dollar stance from Juanma's team has changed. I think the Cab and Gamboa fight will happen in 2010 regardless they all need each other.

 

The offer is out there, thats why he has Bob Arum to negotiate. He wants this fight to happend as he has said in the past. If not he wants to fight against names like Gamboa , Vasquez, or Marquez. Are these easier opponents than Caballero esp. at higher weights where Lopez hasnt fought yet? These are great challenges for Lopez and anyone could agree with that.

If he came out and said he's looking for money fights, I would have little problem with that(even though he's not an established star like Mayweather). However, he lied to everyone and strung Cab around by claiming he would fight Cab in January. Now his promoter is lying about offers that were never made.

 

People are always trying to concentrate on the negative. Lets see the positive he wants to face opponents with bigger names that carry perhaps more threat to him than Carabello. But it seems people are blind to that fact. The lower divisions dont make money figures like others as mention before. So he would never make money like mayweather or any fighters that fight at higher weights. Right now he has many fighters line up in which he could make great money, before time runs out. Could you blame him. Last time I check it's only October and anything could happend. Lopez wants him, but thats up to Arum to see if the numbers are right and profitable for everyone. Any fight against Gamboa, Marquez, and Vasquez are guarantee success. And if anyone disagrees they are just hating and not looking on whats on the table.

 

That's a god damn lie. He wants no parts of Cab. And it's not like he's fighting top quality opposition instead of Cab. He's fighting journeyman and old men who are much smaller than him. These type of actions would not be tolerated by any other fighter. So why should Lopez? You want to compare him to Mayweathr, but Mayweather gets criticized for fighting undefeated top 10 p4p fighters, he gets criticized for going up in weight in fighting champions who are bigger than him. Hell, some people are critical of him for wanting to fight Pac. So if you want to say that Lopez is just being like Mayweather, then don't be surpised when he receives the criticism that Floyd gets.

 

Bigreg, How much has Caballero been making in previous fights? Do you realize that in this low division, fighter don't make more money then the fighters at the junior lightweight to all the way up to heavyweight? If Caballero makes like 100k in few of his fights then he should have accept 150k offer. He would made more if he beats Lopez but oh well. Marquez and Vasquez are 2 name fighters but none got 1 million.
