kessler's been quoted today in danish rags as saying he wants to fight in the US.

he mentions winky wright, hopkins and pavlik which a step in the right direction - so long as team palle don't pull his chain - they should back him up over this.

mogens larsen has also says he would like to fight kessler but he's fighting bute in february apparently so that should nail that one on the head.

    it better anyway.

kessler's 29 now and he has the right attitude.

i talked to him a couple of months before the calzaghe fight was even signed and he had the same ambitions he has now, even if the calzaghe fight pulled the wind out of his sails.

i just hope he hits US soil next year.....

i hope so. i would love him to start getting the big fights and the exposure. the guy is a class act. and has been the only fighter to realy give calzaghe something to think about other than robin reid.
i think he has what it takes.

A spokesperson from the HBO stated earlier today, that they would air Kessler against an american based fighter.

Kessler is underrated, he's more than a typical euro-fighter (like Erdei), he's world class and can do big. He definitely should travel to the US and get a big fight next (not saying you can't have a big fight in Europe), I mean he had two tune-ups since his loss to Calzaghe and he is in his prime, he's got the right attitude.

I hope he does go to the US - he's a quality fighter and a class act outside the ring. He deserves to make a bigger name for himself.

well they would have aired him against miranda. hbo were hot for that fight.

it was a big disappointment that it wasn't.

i e-mailed him over it (i dont know him that well but we know each other through boxing) and i was pretty damming of palle's management.

i'm hoping that's why he's set in fighting in the US now, because otherwise he's just going to be another euro cash-cow.

Yeah but Miranda turned down the fight on HBO, and made the fight with AA.

    thats not true.

mogens palle turned down the fight and said (close as can be to word..) "miranda is not in kessler's league".

what he meant to say was - i want a paper belt first as leverage.

miranda only took abraham because palle rejected him.

Kessler is definitely highly skilled. I'd love to see him get more exposure on North American television. He's great to watch.

Hm. Kessler vs. Bika/Manfredo winner (=Sakio Bika) on HBO anyone? Of course the Taylor-Lacy winner (Jermain Taylor) would be even better, but I doubt DiBella would risk Taylor's building SMW resume knocked back... it's sad, because it's a terrific fight... Maybe Green, but I wouln't mind seeing him vs. Winky...

    You are mistaking...

Mogens Palle turned down an offer to fight on Showtime (reason a titleshot).

Miranda was then offered a fight against Kessler on HBO, for the WBA title after Palle pushed Miranda up the rankings at WBA.

By that time Miranda was in negotiations with AA and turned Palle down. Which is fair enough.

what do you mean "palle pushed miranda up the rankings"?

also, a "title shot" against sartisan was lame compared to miranda - which would have bolstered kessler's rep in the US and done him more good.

There are probably a half dozen or more quality North American-based SMWs that Kessler could face and improve his name-recognition immensely. He simply can't fight another Euro tomato can and be taken seriously (though I'm sure it was his management that insisted on fighting the tomato cans, not Kessler).
    Pavlik
    Bute
    Taylor
    Lacy if he wins
    Green
    Dirrell
    Miranda
    Bika

    yes you're right.

and it was mogens palle who put the emphasis on the belt.

Miranda was not rated high enough at WBA to fight for the title. Palle lobbyed the WBA and Miranda was suddenly ranked 2.
