After the outcomes of March 10th. C - (vacant) 1. Wladimir Klitschko 2. Samuel Peter 3. Ruslan Chagaev 4. Nikolay Valuev 5. Alexander Povetkin 6. Sultan Ibragimov 7. Oleg Maskaev 8. Vladimir Virchis 9. Tony Thompson 10. John Ruiz Maskaev falls 3 places, and Ruiz returns to the list (cue ominous music) knocking off Dimitrenko I think it was.
How Maskaev is still in the top10 is a mystery to me. He fought one nobody since 2006 and got knocked out last weekend. If it was a close fight, okay. But i don't see him having any business in the top10 at the moment.
Wlad stands out in this group, Povetkin's ok.. but aside, this list just reminds me of how weak the heavyweight division is. Im looking forward to a new breed of HW contenders to add to this lackluster bunch.
Chagaev should be ranked ahead of Peters IMO. Virchis,Ruiz(who beat McCline),Valuev,Skeleton and Sprott are better than McCline(who lost to Ruiz),Maskaev(over the hill),Toney(a fat and harmless former middle weight),and Hawkins(who was knocked out by Chagaev's victim Virchis whearas Sam had to go the full route with him).

Good list, sean! I dont get it how the hell people tend to underrate some like Gomez. He for sure should be ranked ahead of someone like Thompson. I would bet quite a decent sum of money on him against Sam Peter or Ruslan Chagaev. The Cuban is really one of those few heavies who are quite underrated here as well as in some box mags.
Gomez is in my own Top Ten, although I also think he's a lazy bugger than could lose a fight one of these days due to sheer ennui and lack of training. I am backing him to beat Virchis, who I remain resolutely unimpressed with. See how that one goes.
Not a bad list. Ruiz, I don't have too big a problem with him at # 10....except I hate watching him. Maskaev? Looked kinda weak on Sat. and hasn't beaten anyone relevant in 2 years. I'd get him out. At first I thought Povetkin was too high. But I don't know who I'd put higher. I agree with some that JC Gomez could be in there somewhere. Aside from some tweaking, due to personal preferences, that's not a bad list.
