Nothing has "gotten into Haye". Yours and many others perception of him is wrong. But it's ok to be wrong once in a while.

    Repeat after me.

The HW champion of the world, who has made over 10 defences of his crown, and has had over 50 fights, choosing to fight a 14 fight rookie who is barely British domestic level is a total farce and embarrassment to boxing.

It's not hard, I know you love your Klits (why I will never know) but surely you can criticize Wlad for this JOKE fight. Just once? Maybe not.

The WBA and WBC champ, Muhammad Ali, chose to fight Leon Spinks in 1978, who had 6 wins and 1 draw back then.
Ali himself had 55 wins and 2 losses. Leon had just bgun with pro boxing, he started in 77. And Spinks lost 17times after the first Ali fight. He now has a record of 26 wins, 17 losses and 2 draws.

Ali was shot against Spinks and had fought everyone already, not the greatest comparison.

History is full of pretty inexperienced challengers. Tyson had Tyrell Biggs, 15-0, Patterson had Rademacher, whom he fought on Rademacher's pro debut, Holmes had Ocasio, 13-0, Witherspoon at 15-0, Marvis Frazier at 10-0, David Bey at 14-0, Carl Williams at 16-0. Some guys have their shot fall in their laps early, whether from a poor era or based on huge amateur achievements that move them along quickly, or both. People act like it's some new outrageous thing that Wlad cooked up. Long-reigning champs get a few of these in there.

    I agree with that...
Although many of the greats did it, it is and stays a BS fight!
But, I don't hold it against him... He fought, and tried to fight the best out of a line of wannabe pretenders for a long time and should get a break.
There was one guy at his "possible opponent list" that really did made me cringe, and that was freakin' Mormeck! It would have been the first Wlad bout that I simply would have refused to watch.

It's nothing new of course. But when you are fighting so irregularly and it gets in the way of a potential unification bout, it's something else entirely.

When you consistently fight your mandatory challengers & the ttop available guys you are entitled to a voluntary defense now & then.

    That's all I'm saying. :thumbsup

Besides, Wlad has 2 good opponents lined up immediately after.
