A Cuban Classic as Kid Gavilan faces off against Countryman Jose "Mantaquilla" Napoles. Napoles who scored a brutale victory over another Countryman Benny Paret in round one. Gavilan had a tougher time with Puerto Rico's Felix Trinidad, but utilized his boxing skill to come out on top.
    15 Rounds.

I've always said that Gavilan's best chance would be to relentlessly outwork his opponent here, on his finest form. But i might pick Napoles on most occasions, it really is a very difficult one, i don't reckon there's any wrong answer. I can see a lot of people picking Gavilan on cuts, hope not though.

I don't reckon Gavilan would hurt Napoles badly, and as much as Napoles' offensive arsenal is the cream of the crop i think that not being hurt aspect would be mutual. I'll pick Napoles to edge it, when Gavilan eases off and is boxing behind that stiff jab, Napoles could pick up points circling and punching off angles, landing heavy artillery in the wars as well that if nothing else, score points. I reckon Gavilan's best moments would be the ones that really have the crowd on the edge of their seats though, and would be the ones that have the viewers thinking stoppage, but i'm banking on it not coming and Napoles gets the decision.

Wow what a great match already.

I just think Napoles lands the cleaner, harder stuff which gets the judges attention in the end.
Bit of a cop out analysis but that basically the jist of how I see this fight going.

    Napoles UD...9-6'ish

Even match stylewise. Napoles definatly has the edge powerwise. but Gavilan has that iron chin... This is a tough one...

I'm going to have to go with Napoles to take this one in a close UD. Both have great boxing skills, but Napoles just might edge it here.
