Madison Square Garden is the site for this one. Great doubleheader as the second round of the tourney is under way. In the first bout "Kid Pambele" Antonio Cervantes comes out strong and scores with good boxing ability on Carlos Palomino. Over the first half of the fight Cervantes is scoring first, but Carlos is patient & delivering some blows to the midsection. In the ninth Antonio is starting to slowdown. Carlos lands more punches now & is starting to land headshots. Cervantes tries to keep moving, but by the 12th rounds appears spent. Palomino lands hard punches to the body & head. In the 13th Cervantes withers under a hail of punches by Palomino, badly hurt the referee has no choice but to stop the bout! CARLOS PALOMINO .13 TKO. ANTONIO CERVANTES In the main event"El Radar" Wilfred Benitez looks confident & aviods the wild rushes by Pipino Cuevas. Cuevas almost appears amaturish by the slick defensive moves by Benitez. Wilfred moves around the ring & peppers Cuevas with jabs, Pipino switches his attack to the body & finds some success. In the mid rounds Benitez if forced to go on the offensive to back Cuevas off. The body blows are starting to take effect, Wilfred is effective & backing Cuevas off by landing nummerous fast combinations. The late rounds have Cuevas fustrated & exhausted, by taking so many counters. Wilfred will take no chances though & will settle to a decision. WILFRED BENITEZ . 15 DEC. PIPINO CUEVAS
