In the Semi finals, Off of his thourough victory over Carlos Ortiz, Luis Rodriguez looks ready to go. & will be facing the confident Carlos Palomino, who just scored a technical knockout over Antonio Cervantes. 15 Rounds.
Luis masters Palomino much like Benitez did... the Cuban was to clever, and too savvy for the plodding Palomino. Rodriguez W15 Palomino.
I wouldnt exactly call Carlos plodding...though LMR might make him look that way. I reckon he beats him more convincingly then Benitez..Because he doesnt coast. Everywhere the fight goes he just has to much for Carlos...To quick, to fluid, to fleet footed, to much skill on the inside and outside...I see LMR finishing the bout on the back foot picking up points with the jab after working pretty hard in the first 2/3's to wrestle the fight from Palomino. LMR 10-5 or 11-4.
Clear cut win for Rodriguez, he'd box well, and is just better in my opinion. Of course it would be a tough fight.
Rodriguez would pump that jab and let off combinations, show far superior ring generalship and come through Paolomino's assaults, as sporadic as they would be due to Rodriguez's maintaining of range. Although Palomino's deadly left hook to the body could work well against Rodriguez's lanky frame, I doubt he will be in too many positions where he can land it. Rodriguez 11-4. Palomino I rate highly, but I feel Rodriguez is JUST TOO GOOD, and with the absence of Duran should surely go and win the tournament............ He vs Napoles (hopefully) is one fight I've never taken part in a discussion about before. Seriously, that one is heaven :good
LMR dominates Palomino from round 1 with a fast jab and lots of lateral movement. After 5 rounds palomino starts to put pressure on but Luis fights back well and keeps his boxing up and Palomino cant really do anything. On the inside Luis is strong enough to hang with Palomino so i really cant see how Palomino can win. Rodrigues virtual shut out
I think Palomino would give a decent account of himself. But in the end Rodriguez may be too much for him. Palomino may wll score to the body, but Luis is also strong on the inside. The fluid movement & strong jab may be the difference in this one. Rodriguez by 15 UD.
Luis wins this in a rather one-sided bout, his legs will keep him out of harm`s way and when he does decide to mix it up with Palomino on the inside his superior handspeed and combination punching will see him get the better of most exchanges en route to a 10-5 or 9-5-1 type of decision win. And as for Luis vs Napoles I`d bet the house on El Feo to win without giving it a second thought, and I wouldn`t be surprised if he did by TKO either.... as great a fighter as Napoles was Luis is all wrong for him stylistically imho.
