Los Angeles is the location for this third part of the Latin Welterweight Tourney. In the first bout Puerto Rico's young sensation Wilfred Benitez will be taking on Mexico's Antonio Margarito. Margarito starts quickly and starts to throw punches in earnest. Wilfred counters & is avioding the incoming punches. Benitez moves around the ring, landing punches & countering Antoinio's wild rushes. As Benitez settles to the ropes Margarito is enjoying some success, going to the body. In the later rounds, Benitez moves back to ring center and peppers Margarito with acurate shots. Margarito attacks, but just can't find his target. WILFRED BENITEZ . 15 DEC. ANTONIO MARGARITO The Staples Center is deafening as De La Hoya & Cuevas are introduced! Oscar rushes out and throws fast combinations at Cuevas. Pipino keeps coming foreward & throwing punches. De La Hoya lands quickly & has the crowd on it's feet! The first three rounds are all De La Hoya. In the fourth De La Hoya throws a huge combination & Cuevas lands a brutale left hook! Oscar backs away stunned. Over the next few rounds De La Hoya a content to outbox Cuevas. Backing up and landing quick punches. Cuevas steps up the pressure & De La Hoya has to fight him off, Oscar is moving and boxing, but now Cuevas is landing heavy punches.De La Hoya has a big 12 th round and appears to have Cuevas staggered. Oscar throws alot of punches. In the fourteenth round Cuevas is landing crunching shots, De La Hoya is slow in trying to move away. Pipino unloads, trapping Oscar in a corner. Oscar goes to a knee! Hard to tell if he's hurt or fatigued! He rises & Cuevas resume's the onslaught, Oscar survives the round.
