You're probably right.. But give it time. If Cain continues to win, staying undefeated, he could have a Chavez-esque following. I'm talking Latinos tailgaiting at weigh ins and fights cooking carne and drinking beer all day and post fight, doing so at home with family and friends for PPVs, and being the majority in arenas.

If Cain puts on a long winning streak he can develop into a draw on the level of GSP.

Brock was like the perfect storm scenario for the UFC, i'd bet that had he not come over to MMA the UFC would have seen their numbers stagnate instead of grow.

MMA's base of fans are suburban white kids, not latino's. Cain will get a boost for sure but nothing as big as Brock. Unless Brock makes a comeback I don't see MMA having a bigger draw for a long time.

 

As I said I think Lesnar will be in a similar situation to Tito, dispite the hype alot of the interest in him was fans wanting to see him get his ass kicked. Its pretty easy to gloss over his failings with a few shots of his freakish size aswell so while Cain/JDS probably won't draw massively the UFC can head one PPV with that and another with Lesnar vs Mir/Mog/Whoever.

 

Hmm, I'd think Dana loves it. Lesnar will still put butts into the seats, while he now has a new and Mexican champ who's not a douche. This outcome is actually much better unless Lesnar was to become the best ever and clean out HWs (which would never happen).

 

Dana does not love it at all. ppl bought Lesnar wanting to see him lose. his new champ is not a ticket seller to the UFC core demographic. (white, white and more white)

If anything in the long run, this will be good for the UFC. Tap into the Mexican fanbase.


I'd wager that Dana was alot more worried when Brock got sick than after his loss to Velasquez.

 

Dana will be gutted, Brock was pulling in PPV buys like nobody else in the company.

Brock will still have a lot of fans willing to pay for his fights after this loss, but the UFC will have to rebuild him carefully. Another defeat like that and he will be finished as a cash cow.

I also think Cain becoming a massive draw for the Latino audience is far from certain.
